I finally broke down and decided to give Firefox a shot instead of Internet Explorer. So far I am very impressed with the speed of Firefox. It starts up fast and pages seem to load faster than IE. :)

I have been using Opera browser for a couple of years now, as firefox always took too much memory on my laptop.

Now your next step needs to be to use EVDO.

Yes Firefox is the best browser I have ever used. It starts up much faster than Netscape when I used that a couple of years ago.

It also has some great plugins — I really like AdBlock Plus & Google send-to-phone, not to mention several that I use for work :)

Ryan, have you had any problems with the Verizon Minutes extension since Verizon changed OLAM? Mine shows "N/A" now because of the changes.

Welcome to the world of Firefox. I can't imagine using anything else! :D

I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is trying to stay one step ahead of widgets like this. I know they're not fond of them. I do hope there's an update to it soon.

I've used Firefox since version 1.x because it's an excellent cross-platform browser. I use Windows for work and a Mac at home and I don't want to have to readjust to a different browser as I switch back and forth during the day..

They finally fixed the Verizon Minutes Minder. Firefox auto-updated it tonight and it's now working like a charm. They fixed this quick! :D

Opera's fine. I've found it's more of a personal preference. I used Opera briefly and decided I'd rather stick to Firefox.

Try Opera out and see how you like it.

Yeah, Firefox does have a longstanding memory problem. Sometimes I've watched it take over 150MB in Task Manager! But if you have plenty of RAM, at least 1GB or better yet 2GB in your system, you should be ok. They are promising they will be taking care of that in version 3. I tested beta 4 and it worked very well, same speed and used much less memory. They are promising it will use less memory than IE and Safari!

I was also giving Safari a try and I was very impressed with how well it adapts to Windows. It's not handicapped in some essential features like the Mac version.

There was a little blurb about known browser vulnerabilities in the latest issue of Macworld magazine. It listed IE as having 18 in the last half of 2007, Safari with 25, and Mozilla based browsers (Firefox, Camino, etc) as having 88!

Re: Finally using Firefox - Firefox 3 released!

Firefox 3.0 (not the beta) was released today. They are trying to set the record for downloads on release day. If you're interested, go for it!

Read about and download Firefox 3.

Re: Finally using Firefox - Firefox 3 released!

I have been using FF3 on and off since the 2nd beta release. I am glad it is finally official. It took almost as long as Vista to be released! (Ok, not quite that long). :)

That's odd when I hit the "check for updates" function from the help menu on Firefox 2.0 it doesn't find any updates. I guess I'll have to do it manually from the link above. Thanks.

That is odd. I wonder if it doesn't recognize that 3.0 is an upgrade from 2.0 (it only checks for 2.0.X??)
