to put the nokia 2260 into field test mode: enter the following at main screen *3001#12345# (substitute 12345 for your security code if changed. a new menu should come up, scroll one up or all the way down, find field test, press select. choose either enabled or enabled+lights, cycle power off then on. phone should come up in field test mode. a new menu will be available called field test, to disable field test mode temporarily, goto field test menu and enter 0. to switch back to normal mode and get rid of that menu, enter *3001#12345# again, goto field test and select disable. cycle power and your done. hope you have fun with it.
Hey; I'm a total newbie, so I apologize if this is stupid.... What does the field test show? I get 9 pages of data. One seems to show my provider, but that's all I can figure out. And BTW, I have changed the security code on my phone, but it was still '12345' for the unlock code. -code
the field test mode shows you alot of useful information regarding the network you are currently on, the tower your are using, signal strength, etc. Its basically the visual representation of the info that your phone uses to get service.
