The FCC is asking Verizon Wireless to answer some questions about its policies regarding higher Early Termination Fees (ETFs) on Advanced Devices and Mobile Web fees. Here is a copy of the text of the questions put to VZW:

I doubt anything will come of this. Verizon is simply charging more for a more expensive phone. They tend to have the largest subsidies on phones and do more twofers. All this would succeed in doing is ending phone subsidies altogether, which may not be a bad thing but would probably make a lot of people more hesitant in adopting a smartphone.
