Ah yes, we have another cell tower from a TV series! This is from Battlestar Galactia (don't just me!) However, this time, it's fake! This entire scene looks to be CGI. What we seem to have here is a 1 carrier monopole with 3 sectors. Pretty funky design, never seen one like that in reality (probably can't have a curved sector like that, as the inner antennas beamwidth cross each other. Oh, don't forget the backhaul on the pole!
I think I've seen that physical design for a tower before, but putting antennas on the curved part looks a little weird, especially since they are pointing in slightly different angles. Also the antennas on the corners are pointing in a totally different direction than the curved part, so I would say it's at least 2 carriers on it, maybe 3. Also a microwave dish on a low site in an urban area is looking really out of place. ...actually, it looks like it's pointing into the building 10 feet in front of it (!!) Actually, when looking at the zoomed out pic, this site makes no sense at all, because it's sandwiched between 2 large buildings. Normally the antennas would be mounted on the buildings walls, or on the roof-top corners, to cover this kind of urban area....but who knows, maybe this is an actual configuration somewhere, and they just copy/pasted it into the CGI image.
I think I've seen a design like that too somewhere. Although not in an area like this, and definitely on with the antennas mounted on the curved part like Radio said. 1-2 sector antennas are very common here in Canada.
haha yea, well it was a very quick fly over scene which didnt add much. That's what you get for a basic cable tv series. Actually, the CGI in the rest of the show, even dating back to 2003 is pretty damn good.
