Re: I've been around long enough to have all kinds of experiences with customer service both good and bad but it was never as bad as the day Sprint basically told me to go F*** myself when I was trying to summon help. If I can't depend on my cellular carrier to connect me with my road service when I am having problems with my car at night in a strange place, it dosen't deserve my business. This is why you have a cell phone in the first place.
Re: I don't doubt it. Verizon treated me the way Sprint treated (basically telling me go f*** myself). I have had more billing issues with Sprint than any carrier. Getting them fixed has sometimes been a struggle, but in the end they always have come through. With other carriers I had far fewer problem, but had no luck whatsoever getting them resolved. Basically, it's pick your poison.
Re: Since when did any carriers customer support become AAA? If you needed assistance and you felt uncomfortable in your location you should've called 911. They would've been able to be of much greater assistance in getting you a tow truck.
Re: I never asked Sprint to become Triple A. I wanted them to be Sprint and connect me with the road service I pay to come to my assistance just as I pay Sprint to connect me with Triple A or anyone else I need to call. I have no idea who or when anyone would have responded to a 911 call or how much local law enforcement's favorite tow service would have ended up costing me. Put it this way: I felt a lot more comfortable calling Triple A You seem to have completely bought into the culture of Sprint's Customer Service. Be polite, do nothing or as little as possible and turn repsonsibility for the problem back on the customer. You would do extremely well as one of their employees.
Re: We have dumped Srint after only six weeks and we dispise them so much are glad to pay to get out of their contract (Anybody want to buy a pair of almost new Sprint Razors?) When we went to Verizon yesterday to resume its service, their guy told us that Sprint started going down hill after it merged with Nextel, that for starters, the Nextel and Sprint Networks are totally incompatible. I certainly can't guarantee that we won't get upset with verizon at some point, but for two years we had no real issues with them.
Re: Of course a Verizon salesman would say that. But it's not true. Coverage on the CDMA side has gotten much better since the merger. The only issues right after the merger were on the IDEN side because Nextel was a sinking ship even before the merger happened. So it took a little time to turn things around and they have done that now. I'm very happy with Sprint myself and so are many others. It's unfortunate that you felt they couldn't meet your needs and had to cancel but that doesn't mean they won't work out for the next guy.
Wirelessly posted (Crackberry 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104) Larry is right. The only thing about Sprint (CDMA) that is hurting since the merger is their PR. A major issue for sure, but their network is improved since the merger.
Re: So were you trying to call customer service or call AAA? Customer service can't connect you to any outside company, no carrier's customer service plays the role of operator. What exactly WAS your problem? Could you not make a call because of a lack of signal? Billing Error? From your initial post on summoning help, it sounds like you expected Sprint customer service to call AAA for you. They can't do that, no carriers customer service can. If you didn't like Sprint for other reasons fine, but it sure sounds like you have grand expectations that no carrier will provide, you will perpetually be unhappy with any carrier you choose. As for the salesman, if you believe everything they say, you're a fool. If someone stands to directly profit from their advice they'll tell you anything and that goes for sales people in all industries. The lies I've heard from ATT, Sprint, and Verizon sales people are simply jaw dropping, but to the unknowing and naive they'd sound inviting. I wish the best of luck to Verizon and whatever carrier you choose in the future.
Re: I really wnjoy talking with the Sprint appologists. If you had read my original post you would know that a pornography site hijacked the AAA number so that any Sprint customer trying to connect with AAA using AAA's 800 number was instead connected with a porn site selling phone sex. I called Sprint's customer service, informed them of this situation and asked them if, under the circumstances, if they would connect me to Triple A. Sprint gave me the same line you have, that the carrier is not an operator, ergo tough s***. It did not care that it was allowing its customers to be placed in harms way and be defruaded by the porn site that was charging $1.90 per minute. I found out the next day that Sprint actually has its own a road service to which it could have connected me with without breaking the precious rule against a carrier being an operator but the Sprint CS rep I spoke with either did not know this or did not bother to find out. It took Sprint at least 2 days to clear up the problem with the porn site, so God only knows how many people were affected. BTW, I am not a fool. I merely reported what I had been told by the Verizon guy, I didn't say I necessarily believed him, although it does make sense.
Re: If AAA's phone number had been hijacked by a pornography site, how would Sprint have been able to connect you to AAA any better than you attempting to dial yourself? And how was it Sprint's problem to clear up the number mess at AAA? Were only Sprint phones affected? How would this happen? Why didn't you try 411? They will connect calls for you. I can't speak to Sprint specifically, but having worked in a call center environment in the past, there are often only a select few numbers that representatives have the power to make outbound calls to from their desk. If AAA is not one of them, then there isn't any possible way customer service could have connected you even if they wanted to and were willing. Sprint would have no reason to connect you to their roadside service if you are not paying for it. Just like AAA would not help me since I am not a member. As has already been pointed out, if it were a true emergency situation, then you should have dialed 911. If not, then I fail to see what Sprint did wrong. I think this is just another example of people expecting too much from their phone company. If Verizon suits your needs better than Sprint then that is great.
Re: No, don't worry... I'd call you on the same thing if you were making the post in any other carrier subforum also.
Re: Egads. I can't help but believe you are engaged in Sprint's sock puppetry. The problem was never AAA's problem, it was Sprint's. If I were using another wireless carrier or if I had access to a pay phone on that highway miles from nowhere in the middle of the night I would have been able to contact AAA using their 800 number and AAA would have dispatched someone to help me. The 800 number worked fine as I found out when I called AAA from a land line phone the next morning, but when I tried calling using Sprint , its connection to AAA was still hijacked by the porn people. When I called Sprint CS to report its customers were still being defrauded by the porn site and were still unable to contact AAA over Sprint they did not appologize to me or even admit the problem. I am simply saying as I have all along that I was not able to call an emergency 800 number using Sprint's wireless service. I expect that of my wireless carrier. About SPrint's own road service. Any Sprint customer an access the service anytime through Sprint's CS provided the Sprint representative you are speaking with has been trained about this important feature. In my case the rep was either untrained or forgot his training. He was a perfectly polite idiot who couldn't think his way out of a paper sack. You can say I'm unreasonable and or that my expectations are too high when I blame the carrier for not being able to connect me with an emergency service during an emergency. Fine. Let each person decide for himself. I intend to continue to tell this story whenever I can
Re: Unless policy has changed in the past month, this is totally untrue. You must have the Roadside Assistance option ($4/mo) on your account to use the service. It has always been this way for as long as I can remember. And FWIW, you can search for posts by me and find plenty of them complaining about Sprint. I have NEVER been totally satisfied with a cell carrier, save for my stint with US Cellular in Gainesville, FL. You might want to utilize the search feature before accusing me of being a Sprint puppet.
yeah..............honestly even a porn company would have serious trouble trying to hack one carrier to forward all AAA calls to a porno number............next to impossible unless you have someone on the inside..........
Re: Yes the quote function is screwed up. I'll edit my post and some of the others that got the quotes screwed up.
Re: Are you telling me that I can't get road service added onto my plan at a later date? if that's true they're even worse than I thought.
Wirelessly posted (Crackberry 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104) No, you can add it at any time but I think there is a waiting period (14 days maybe) before you can actually use it. This is to prevent people from adding it when they need it and then immediately canceling it the next day.
and we arent saying that you're lying but i'm being the doubting thomas in saying that i'll believe it when i see it..........ir hear it in this case.......lol:lmao:
I'm waiting for support to open again. Someone is going to have hell to pay. Refer to my thread so you know the skinny. I feel your pain and I apologize that you even had to dial *2. You know, they should DISCOURAGE subscribers into calling into support. Maybe they will get so bored of not getting any calls. They will be happy to talk to someone and actually want to help us? I guess, reality is never to far from a thought! Glad all worked out! http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/g...n/65727-why-im-really-starting-hate-spcs.html
