Just dial a wrong number, or a number without an area code and it should give you an ALLTEL error message.

Hey I got your PM, that's good that its working for you. Lawnpatio just started emailing me after the post on 3/30 so no other info that I gave him to work it out is on here. If you have any problems with it just let me know I can try to help figure it out...

I tried dialing 555-4219 and I got an Alltel error message! The phone also displays Extended Network where Verizon Wireless used to be. :highclap:

Does anyone know how to repeat this trick on a Verizon 7250 BlackBerry? I could score some points with my wife if I could get her phone to work in the house!

I got some offline help from strunke and we figured it out:

Forcing a Verizon 7250 Blackberry to register on the Extended Network:

    1) Enter ##000000 from the Phone screen and it will take you to the CDMA Service Program.
    2) Change the Home SID and save the settings. It will reboot automatically.
    3) Go to Settings and change the Network mode to Home Only and reboot again.
    4) You can verify the new SID by going to the Phone screen and entering #4357* to view the device status.

Thanks for letting us know that you figured it out- I am also glad that you found help. I tried googling but came up short.
    Take care,

Hi all - I'm in Clearwater, FL with the same zero bar scenario and barely any reception on an LG VX5200 - does anyone know how to 'force extended network' with this phone? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Hi Andy,

I have been following this thread because I have the same problem when travelling to Toronto with the North American Choice from VZW. I should be on the extended network but instead I pick-up the signal from VZW or other from across the lake but not strong enough to place or receive calls. So I followed your advice and it behave like you described it. However ERI triangle and banner are gone from the screen. So no Verizon wireless or Extended Network banner. Is this normal?

I guess I'll find out when the bill comes out if I am charged Roaming. Because there shouldn't be any on the NAC (north american choice plan).

Also, do you have to change the MDN in NAM 2? Because when I did, then your steps didn't work. I left the number that was already in there, which is different than mine.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Cheers

    Hi!

I'm glad it worked for you! :D
When using NAM2 it is completely normal that your ERI and roaming indicator don't function. What you will see is an empty ERI and just your signal strength bars...takes a while to get used to, lol.

As far as the MDN in NAM2...What has always worked for me is to match the NAM2 MDN and MIN to exactly what the NAM1 is...if that doesn't work for you, then just leave it as it is.

You need to figure out the SID of the carrier you want to force, then press Menu, all zeroes, then hit option 1 for Service Menu. Hit OK or Continue until you see NAM1 Settings. Copy all that information down on a piece of paper. "Continue" through the NAM1 settings until you see "Nam 1 completed" or something, then go to "see more" or something like that and once you hit NAM2 settings, copy all the information from NAM1 down to NAM2, other than the HOME SID, which you will put in that of the carrier you want to use. Exit the service programming (your phone will reset) and then go to your normal network setting menu and chose NAM2 and HOME ONLY.
