Hi guys, I just switched from a razer v3t to a blackberry pearl, but I really miss my ringtone. It was the included "jazz" ringtone, and it was basically a knockoff of miles davis' "so what" that was designed to work well as a ringtone (volume/mixing wise and the way it wrapped up). It was sleek, awesome, and I often got compliments on it (I am a musician that hangs out with other musicians).

My mom still has a razr. Is there any way I can get that tone off of her phone and onto mine? I don't know if it can be sent as an mms, since its built in, but that would be great. It would also be amazing to download it somehow. Thanks for the help in advance.

If it was included in the phone then it cannot be moved by MMS. The only way I have found to move ringtones like that is to use a data transfer program. MPT might do it, but if not then you'd have to get more technical and use P2K Commander. I warn you though, P2K Commander is for advanced users only, there are no safeguards built into that program, so you really need to know what you are doing while in there. If any mistakes are made the phone's file system will be screwed up and the phone will no longer work.

Thanks for the help. My parents just left town, although I did try to link the phone to my computer before they left (but I couldn't browse the phone, for some reason).

I clicked on the "info" option for the phone while I still had access to it, and it said it was an mp3 file, which gave me hope. Alas, now I wont have my hands on the phone for some time.

I dont know if that specific ringtone is on every razr, but it would be nice if it is. I know a million people with different sorts of razr phones. I might still have a chance.

What carrier was the phone with? I don't think I've ever heard of that ringtone, so I don't think it is a Motorola standard. It may have been part of what your carrier specified for it. Most V3's do not support drag & drop when hooked up to a USB cable, which is why you need software to do it.

    It was on t-mobile.

My sister at home is "somewhat" computer literate, so i might get her to try installing the software and seeing if the tone is there.

If anybody else has a razr v3t (which is the tmobile version of the v3i, I believe) and they can confirm whether or not software can extract the included mp3 ringtones, that might save me a lot of time and effort and I would appreciate it.

I found ringtones that play the actual song "so what," but they don't sound nearly as good.

thanks for the help and tips, jay.

That would explain it. I don't know anyone on TMO. All my family, and most of my friends are on ATT, I have a few scattered friends on Verizon & Sprint, but nobody on TMO. I've taken a few ringtones off my V551 (TMO V330) with P2K Commander, so as long as you have someone with the patience to install the drivers you will be good to go.
