Are there any adapters out there that you could use to get EVDO on your desktop computer? Or is it a strictly laptop only market?
It's the same thing as your laptop. Just plug in the USB cord like you would to the laptop. Or do you have some other setup? You can setup a manual connection. Edit: Just re-read it. You mean like a data only card? I'm not sure about that.
The only thing that I know of that will allow you to share an EvDO card with a desktop would be something like the D-Link or Linksys EvDO routers. You stick the EvDO notebook card into the router and it allows you to share the connection wirelessly and through ethernet.
Dogma, this is the first thing I found searching for "PCI PCMCIA" I found. This web page also shows a PCMCIA to USB 2.0 adapter, too. COtech
Sprint carries 2 USB EVDO modems. I use the U720. I went USB because there is no guarantee my next laptop will have PCMCIA.
Airlink just came out with the raven X for EvDo which has a serial and ethernet connection. It runs on 12v, so it can travel with you as well. It is Rev. A compliant, but when I talked to a sprint rep about it they werent sure when MN might see it. It also can run on Rev.0 and 1xrtt networks. They are pretty expensive though ($700), but have alot more features than PCMCIA routers like Top Global or Linksys.
