I am going to be houseboating on Lake Powell next week. I was wondering if anyone had any information on EVDO reception on Lake Powell. What spots on the Lake have reception. Does an antenna booster help on the Lake?

    regards,

    Carl

Not likely unless it attracts lots of people. Its Alltel/Verizon territory, so it depends on what carrier you have. Personally I would be more interested in taking an analog capable phone, tri mode than and evdo phone. Alltel analog is still operating in utah

ALLTEL's Navajo Mountain site is still AMPS only. Verizon has had CDMA up there for years. Verizon will be your best choice for the Lake Powell Area, Verizon has the most cell sites in the area and has EVDO up on their Big Water and Page cell sites. Navajo Mountain should either be EVDO capable or in the progress of being upgraded.

A lot more of Lake Powell is covered by CDMA that one might think- Verizon's Navajo Mountain site is very powerful. There are only some outer back parts of Lake Powell where I did not have service and the coverage maps greatly understate actual coverage.

I had EVDO in Page on Alltel.
