I am using my T68I with T-mobile, and the reception SUCKS! Maybe it's the service, maybe it's the phone......but I feel like cancelling and sending it back

I agree any gsm nokia(3390 etc) will get better reception than the t68i...but I love the goodies and the color screen...and you can even play battleship...and the camera is fun to play with too. If this is going to be your only cell phone dont get it unless you live in an area with really strong gsm coverage.

To some people, phones are like a pair of shoes. People have a few pairs and pick out which one they feel like using for the day. This is especially easy with GSM phones where you can just switch out the SIM card without have to reprogammed or do an ESN change like TDMA or CDMA phones.

You people crack me up! lol What good is a phone with sucky reception even if it has the coolest gadgets? reception should be the primary consideration unless you use your phone only in a good signal area all the time.

The t68i/m does suck in the reception area.

The original poster spoke about the 7210. I have that phone now, and it's the best phone I have ever had. I wrote a review in the Nokia Forum of this site. Just search 7210 under the Nokia threads.

I don't know why the ericsson t68i phone has such a poor rep. I do hear that Sweden (and Finland) are supposed to be one of the top nations in the world for cell-service (quality of reception, availability, etc). I assume that the Swedes only use Ericsson brand phones in their country (whereas Finns use their Nokias). Maybe it's US-based manufacturing of those phones?

So I wouldn't go as far as saying that Ericsson is the worst brand, something is definitely working for them. It is a bit misleading though - I've heard many US folks complain about ericsson. I guess Nokia tops Ericsson (at least in this argument).

You'll hear many folks gripe about each phone.

Just like carriers. One bad experience, and they're turned off permanently.

How many times have you seen, in one form or another, a person who signed up just to make one post for the purpose of smearing a company that just, in their opinion, wronged them. Just think about how many people have had problems like that with each phone manufacturer, and know that every happy customer tells, on average, 1 person about their experience, while every irate customer, on average, tells 4.

good point, and by human nature many are more likely to pay attention to the negative then positive.

Nokia tops all of the other mobile phone manufacturers. They #1.

By the way, the Nokia 7210 is made in Finland. It says so on the phone.

I just don't like the earset sound on Ericsson phones. For what I have noticed they have the worst sound.

Aiwapro: Please notice that ALL Nokia phones are made in Finland. That's where the main factory outlet is.

Just to let everyone know, I'm new here, but I do have some opinions on the whole ericsson/ nokia debate. My family all use the cingular network. Both myself and my wife have nokia 3360's, my grandmother has an ericsson( not a sony ericsson). My grandmothers ericsson constantly maintains 4 bars of signal strenth, while our nokias at times can't connect. I've used the ericsson, and have never had it at a point at which I coudn't make a call. Maybe it's your network, and not the phone. As for cingular, I've cancelled my account today, they have to be THE WORST in customer service. I've had cingular for 6 years, but after losing my contracts and over-billing me twice within the past 2 years, I'm done. Their customer service is horrible. I hihgly recommend t-mobile( that is until they merge with cingular).

I just bought the T68i and it has no reception in or around my home for 2 blocks using Cingular. This does not suprise me since I also have a GSM account with T-Mobile and I can't get any reception either with an 5190, 6190, 8290, or any other phone. Even my friends using their T-Mobile accounts can't get reception. I live in Woodbridge, NJ and I know that Cingular uses the T-Mobile GSM Towers in the NJ/NY Metro are. The Cingular rep that sold me the phone was conviced that Cingular had just put up 25 new towers in the area and the reception in my home are would be greatly improved over T-Mobile. Not true. I'm returning the phone and closing the account since I was given 14 days to give it a try. The T68i seemed to be an awesome phone, but I am not sure about its reception abilities since I will not keep it to try it out. It lacks a speakerphone option that would have been cool.

That is where the main factory is, but not all of their phones are made there. Some are made in China.

Well, I have the t68i and had it for about two months now. I really like the phone and the reception to me is great. Even when the service area is not at full strength I can always make a connection as long as the bars are shown.

Now initially I thought the reception wasn't all that great, but I chalk that up to At&t just starting out with GSM. Over past months I notice a change in reception, its getting better.

I posted sometime back my experience with the service and phone thus far. I think that the phone is good, got an 8 out of ten on CNET.

well, i've had my T68i and T-mobile for just under a week, and so far so good. My house is in a low reception area, but t-mobile has good coverage of it. I've used my phone in pretty much most of the areas it'll get used around this area....I guess that makes this a happy review.

to everyone...you guys have to know something, the t68 is the first phone that sony and ericsson did together, and it is also the first phone(sonyericsson) that has an internal antena...so, you gotta give them credit...if you have bad reception, it is not the t68i's fault(not all the time at least), it is ur provider's fault... i do have a good reception, and also other people in my area do...
i had a problem with my phone(t68i), and i bought another one, to tell you how good it is...

sonyericsson, is a new born, give it time and you will be happiER...

I paid for a T68 and got the 3390 for free, 3390 has much better reception then the T68 here in the Chicago area.

The t68/i does not have the best reception. It's no longer an opinion, it's a fact.
