You have the master volume up & do you have the phone set to answer with any button & not on handsfree?

How old is the phone? and have you been having issues with it prior on calls or any other volume problems?

If the other person that you are talking to can hear you, but you are unable to hear them, your problem is most likely due to a faulty ear piece....You should take the enV into your nearest Verizon service store and have them check the ear-piece on it for you. They will try cleaning the ear-piece by blowing compressed air into it. If this doesn't resolve the issue, they will be able to offer solutions on fixing it, or a warranty exchange, if you are still within this period, or have insurance on your account.

I own and use an enV. The enV is a book type phone with MP3 playback, it has stereo speakers inside it.

During a call that you can't hear, try adjusting the volume during a call. During a call, the volume control adjusts incoming sound volume.

    If that doesn't work...

Next call, try opening the phone and press the speaker button to the right of the 'clr' button, see if the sound comes through the inside speakers.

If the sound comes through the inside speakers, that can get you by until you can get to a Verizon owned store to get a tech support person to look at it. Before you go to the technicians, make sure you try adjusting the volume during a call. During a call, the volume control adjusts incoming sound volume.

If the sound does not come through the inside speakers (after the speakerphone mode is properly activated), and your phone acts like this for every incoming caller (ask different friends to use different phones to call you), your phone has troubles.

    HTH.
