AH, wait it's the 6k, with that one for some reason sometimes the ESN change on the site doesn't work , but just like you enter the ESN from the Nokia do the same with the 6K, for reason just enter "other"

everytime i switch my 6k i have to call it in to Verizon's customer service, so if it doesn't work just call cust service they'll do it over the phone for you....

Ok thanks. I'll have to do that as soon as I wake up. I was trying to switch it and was getting a little frustrated with it. Lol thanks.

yeah, i was told that because of "PIX messaging" the swap over the web site doesn't always work, they need to set it up over the phone which explains why everytime i switch to any other phone it works fine but as soon as i try to switch back to my 6k sometimes it won't take the ESN.

Yeah, I would suggest shutting both phones off and calling 1-800-922-0204 from another phone (or *611 from another VZW phone or 1-866-ESN-CHNG if you're in the West region).

My local store is supposed to charge for that kinda crap...but most reps do not. The newer (and nastier/clueless tech reps) are charging people! My friend bought a new phone and they wanted to charge her for a phonebook transfer, what great service. I thought they put up the website so people wouldn't call in or go to the store, but if it doesn't work, it's not fair to charge. I would fight the 15$ charge.

    Crazyboy,

I think that it is bogus that you were charged $15, next time I would fight it stating there is a glitch on Verizion's end that will not allow you to change your ESN online. thats BS how is that "service" worth $15 :thumbsdow

    good luck

They charge for in-store ESN swaps in this market/region but they never charged for over-the-phone ESN swaps. I wonder if they do charge here now as well since you have the "online option?"

The important question is: why does it cost Verizon "money" (that they see fit to "recover their costs") to do an ESN swap in some regions but not others? It does not make sense. I'm a little disappointed to hear that Verizon still has regional differences in policies and pricing.

Maybe it isn't Verizon. Maybe it's the Verizon agents, who are independent operators, and are looking to mke extra bux. We have several Verizon agent stores here, but only one actual Verizon, staffed with Verizon employees, kiosk at the mall. I bet that if I took my phone in to do...whatever the original poster wanted to do...they wouldn't charge me.

It is Verizon, not the agents. VZW corporate stores all have signs about charges for ESN and phone book transfers.

Ok well I did another ESN change over the phone this time. I told the lady I was switching over to a 3589i and it all went smooth without asking for a charge? So I dont know what happened the other day, but thats not rite. When I get my bill if I was charged for that one change, I will call up and complain or just go to the store.
:eek:fftopic: One more question, Will insurance cover this phone and if something happens to it, will they replace it? If insurance covers it, will they still give me a 3585i or the 3589i which I told them I have?

your insurance will cover whatever phone you had in used at the time of incident, also they can tell which model phone you have with the ESN number.
