    1) change extension of file from .mp3 to .mid
    2) email the file in an atatchment to <yournumber>@vzwpix.com
a)make sure to include the areacode (ex. 5165551234@vzwpix.com)
    3) in a couple of minutes at the most you will receive a message on your phone
    4) go down to the ring tone and click play (i think its the right button at the top)
    5) then you can save it by either clicking the menu button or something

you can actually set it as your ringer right from the menu too

    i hope that helps

You'd probably have more success if you sent the ringtone from vzwpix.com to your phone...vzwpix will email directly to your phone number.

I have a mac also, so it IS possible to use mac for this process...

After it loads the midi file, do you see a music note in the create portion? Or does it never get to that point? If it never gets there, then maybe you're trying to upload too big a file or you're using an older browser??

Can you try the process in another browser? I use IE 5.2 for vzwpix.com & it seems to work well...

    Good luck!

jodi i use safari so maybe thats the problem. the email i sent with yahoo about an hou ago just came through and i saved my song no problem, so i guess patience was the key. two things tho i want to set it so my song rings again, since its only 25 seconds like the normal rings. any ideas? the other is that the song seems to be low in volume it is a mp3 or midi at 32kbps. does that affect it or have ne idea of how to increase the volume.

Glad you got it to work! I don't know how to get the ring to repeat to lengthen the time you hear the ringer...

I've noticed that some rings come in loud and clear and others are quieter...no rhyme or reason for this either...

    sorry...can't be more help here!

I really think its just how busy the servers are that send the email. i sent another .mid file to my phone last night from hotmail and it took a minute if that, as opposed to the other ngiht when it took like 5-10 mintues. Loving this phone...

i had a lot of problems transfering it over, and it started to really "stink" as someone said before, so i just went out and bought the TF card and an SD card reader for my computer. Its so simple and painless its worth it. Radioshack carries them so u can go to their website and search for stores around you and just go get it. I can tell you its SOOOO worth it

I had problems where the .mid file was being stripped out by Verizon (I think). Finally got it to work with GMail though. I went and used the creative wave studio software and sampled a few seconds worth of a song and then put in a loopback and stuff and set that up as my ringer.

that's so odd! I get my messages with 60 secs at most (and that depends on how large the file is that I'm sending!!!)

Haven't had any problems sending a file to (yournumberhere)@vzwpix.com. I am emailing strait from Mail.app with a Mac. I made sure that my file sizes were fairly small (100k) and i edited the ext to .mid.

    Candy...

Follow these directions...although it's in regards to the Samsung a670, the procedure on how to download is the same...the menus may be different between phones, so take that into account..

    This thread has the directions:

I'm having an issue with uploading to VZWPIX.com. It will not accept a .mp3 or a .mid file. "Invalid media type for upload: speed22.mid (audio/mpeg)" This used to work fine, but I think that VZ changed their website around. I'm also having an issue with emailing the file as well. I get the email but it says that the attachment was dropped - it's only 483kb. Using windows and thunderbird for email. Last time I tried this was on my Mac at home (before I got the transflash card) and it work via email or vzwpix.com.

OK - I got it to work. I reduced the compression to 96k to get a files size of 183kb (dont think that mattered much) and i used my .mac email to send it - had to change it to a .mid as well.

I seem to recall that shortly after the release of the V710, the "MIDI Hole" in PixPlace was discovered and closed. A lot of people started reporting that they could no longer e-mail MIDI (or MP3s renamed as MIDI) files to their handsets.

The workaround if you have the .40R firmware is to save the ringtone to a TransFlash card, put the card in your phone, and then send the file you want to move to the phone to yourself in a TXT message. The system will refuse the TXT because of the MP3 file, but you'll be able to save the file into the phone's internal memory and use it as a ringtone. There are more detailed instructions in other threads.

Of course, if you have the old firmware, you can just move the file off the card without any trouble. =)

Well I'm pretty well with computers, but I'm having some difficulties here. I just got the E815 about a week ago and am eager to try getting some MP3 ringtones on it (using the method described above, as I haven't and don't particularly want to purchas a TransFlash card at the moment). First off, how are you changing the extension to .mid? If I just rename the file **.mid it tries to keep it as **.mid.mp3 Also, what programs are you using to reduce the length and compression? I'm looking for a free program, if one exists. Sorry if the questions seem a bit basic, and thanks for any help you may provide!

I tried to email it direct and I get an error back that said:

----- Transcript of session follows -----
    ... while talking to smtp.vzwpix.com.:
    >>> DATA
    <<< 550 SMTP connection refused
    554 5.0.0 Service unavailable

hi, i'm new to these forums and all the posts have helped me greatly in creating my ringtones

the only problem i have is once to tone gets to my phone, i can't save it because it has to be under 350kb,

on windows all the files are around 300kb

i was wondering if there was anyway to compress the size of the tone for sending

i made the tones on audacity and i have a LG vx5300

    any help is appriciated, thx
