Hi, I was just wondering if early termination fees are prorated in NJ for Verizon Wireless. I noticed that Cingular and T-Mobile both offer prorated ETF for 2 year contracts and was wondering if this was the same for Verizon. Seems like it is on a state by state basis for other carriers.

I've never heard of a prorated ETF, although to be fair, I've never looked all that closely at the ETF fine print. I can't imagine why VZW would offer a prorate on the ETF, tho.

No. I think Cingular and maybe T-Mobile are the only ones that offer prorated ETF's in certain states only.

I believe certain states (such as Iowa) require all companies to offer prorated ETF's. I don't think there are any states where some companies charge a set amount while others prorate the amount.

Here is what Cingular has in there plan terms:
Early termination fee of $240 prorated over the length of the service agreement applies to subscriptions in the following states: FL, GA, SC, NC, AL, KY, TN, LA, NY and parts of IN and NJ. A non-prorated $150 early termination fee applies in all other Cingular areas.

And it say's "Parts of IN and NJ" I wonder if the NJ area is the southern half of the state, where Cingular originally had bought out I think it was Comcast wireless.

IT was Comcast in the Phila. market which included parts of South Jersey.

Using some logic, I figure that the prorated is in the North NJ area, not the southern half because NYC (which is also part of the North NJ market) also prorates.

Following the same logic, the southern NJ area (which belongs to the Philly market), would do a flat $150 fee just like PA does.

I can't see it would be the other way around.

That makes alot of sense, guess it's market area and not by each state.
