I have a Moto E815 (Verizon) and won't charge anymore. Tried cleaning the contacts, actually looks like one of the contacts on the charging port is missing. Can this be fixed? Rather is it worth fixing? Also what can you do with a phone like this? I'd hate to toss it in the garbage if it can be fixed. Does Verizon take back phones like this to use as FRU?
Motorola had problems with that style charger. I had the same issues on my old V60t. It got to the point that it just would not charge anymore. I bought a desktop charger that charged the phone and an extra battery. I always had a battery in the desktop charger, and I would switch batteries every night. That's probably the cheapest solution. Although the E815 was a great phone, It will probably cost more to fix the phone than its worth. -Jay
Thanks Jay. I guess i will put this one to rest. I recently used my NE2 to get my wife a BB Pearl. I have her W385 and can use that. Like I said before I hate to have the phone go to waste if the only thing is wrong is the charging port.
I have the E815 too. My advice would be to buy a new charger on Ebay or if you have a car charger see if it charges your phone properly so you know it is indeed the charger and not the phone's contacts. If you don't have a car charger, you can buy one at Target or Walmart and if that doesn't work you can return it. If worse comes to worse, you can always donate you phone to women in distress donation box at your local VZW store.
I don't think that will work, because the OP has already stated that the charging port on the phone is damaged and missing contacts. -Jay
Jay has it right. I have to go to the Verizon store tomorrow anyway. I'll see if I can exchange it for some accessories.
I dropped the E815 into half an inch of pop. Don't ask how. It was stuck in "bootloader usb init" mode. Then I came across a blog The guy mentions that his phone was fixed after placing it in a vent over night. So, I placed the phone with the charger end facing a fan on low for half an hour. After doing that, the phone started up fine but immediately it is "Unable to charge". I fixed this problem by charging the phone while it is TURNED OFF. While the phone is on, it keeps saying "unable to charge" But while it's off, it seems to charge fine. Hope that helps some people. peace.
