So how do I get a MP3 on to the cell? Everything I've tried so far has failed. I don't have a data cable or transflash card yet. Is there another way? For some reason I can't save anything from the web. Also, MP3's and pics from my PC that I've messaged to myself don't show in the message. Just text showing the name of the file. There is no save option. I've spent over 27 hours on this issue so far and haven't gotten anywhere. It's the reason I've found this site.
The easiest way is to get a tf card and transfer them that way or use mpt, both ways are very simple.
sorry but I have verizon e815 and I tried to xfer my mp3 from my TF but does not give me the option to move or copy...... do you think I need a softwore update? I work for alltel and our e815 does allow copy and move any ideas about moto e815 from VZ?
My phone is alltel and I have no probs tfing mp3's. Must be a vrz thing. You work for Alltel why do you have vz??
no comments why I have vz.........but I am so upset..and yes at alltel we don't block that or the bluetooth xfer.....vz they encript everything..bastards they want to make money out of they ____ v cast
I don't know anything about the alltel format.., but verizon's I do. My best friend and here husband have verizon and motorola e815 phones. I take clippits from verizon's tone sites. they come up on my computer and play in musicmatch. they are on my hard drive. I rename the file and I send them to their numbers at xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com a regular text file to yourself would be the number@vtext.com. if you are sending to that...that's why their is no ringtones in the message..other than the text. they should come as a pic message..when you open them up..they play the song..while playing you hit option save to phone sounds...and voila...the ringtone is there. On my phone I have a data cable and I can transfer everything back and forth so easy. full mp3 songs for my mp3 player onto my transflash card, etc. If you need more help, please PM me and I'll see if I can assist you with this. My friends have no problem saving things to their phones.
After many google searches and the info from this forum, I've found that getting the OEM data cable and MPT 4.0 from eBay for about $40 total will solve all my needs. Soon after I'll get the TF card. Thanks All
The mp3's are probably too big of a file to come via messaging...unless you are using small clippits that are already condensed down. the pics won't come to you if you are emailing them to your number at number@vtext.com you must send them to yournumber@vzwpix.com attached in the message.
I'm on the Alltel network. Not Verizon. I have tried mynumber@message.alltel.com w/ a very condensed MP3, still nothing. Same with pictures, I even tried doing a pic at 176x220 w/ 8 colors as a GIF, PNG, and JPG just to see if I could get it to show up. Still nothing. It gives me the file name in the message, but no way to see or save it.
Sorry electricsquid. I got confused with your posts and Xeneize's. verizon/alltel is swimming through my head. There is a member on this forum by the name of alltelwirelesstech Perhaps if you send a email and politely ask for help he can assist you??? I'm sorry I'm not as familiar with Alltel as I am Verizon. Good luck...I hope you get it figured out soon
so did we ever figure out how to transfer files to the e815 without purchasing any hardware or software?
You can put the tone on the TF card from your PC, put the TF card back in the phone. Send the tone in an outgoing message to a fake #, 555-555-5555. Go to your outbox and select that message. your ringtone will start playing, save it to your phones memory. than go to your sounds section and it should be there! you then select it and click the menu button and "apply as ringtone" there you go! a free ringtone ready to use!
I tried your method of getting mp3s to play as ringtones on my e815 and I could'nt get it to work. Or did I misunderstand when you stated "tone", you were not referring to mp3... If thats the case, do you know how to get mp3s to play as ringtones?
For the verizon phone you can make the mp3 and then send it to your phone as a message from your email. send it to ###@vzwpix.com I know this works cuz I have done it many of times
