We have started a petition to Motorola concerning some of the problems with the E815. If you would like to read the petition, and possibly sign it, please check it out at: http://www.petitiononline.com/fletch33/ Thanks! Andy W.
I just signed your petition. I just don't like to hear problems with their cell phones. We are the consumers. We expect the best from the products we paid for.
Thanks, Sara. The petition was started by someone who was told by Motorola that they just hadn't heard about these problems, and that if they could be shown that more people had them, it might help them get to work on solving them. (I just helped re-write the petition a little bit.) I'm hoping that Motorola will listen to us, and eventually deliver a phone that doesn't exhibit these problems. Thanks again. Andy W.
The problem with online petitions is they do not work. Every cancelled TV show in the last 5 years has had an online petition. Some with hundreds of millions of "signatures". The reason nobody cares is because it requires no effort to sign a virtual petition and can't be validated. Take Family Guy on Fox. It had a petition with million of signatures, Fox could not care less. Then the DVD became the all time highest selling, suddenly it was time to listen. The better alternative is to get Verizon's attention. They are Motorola's customer, not you. If Verizon goes to them with a problem, it will get fixed. Or at least investigated. The more time Verizon spends fielding calls on the E815 the more money it costs them. Speak with you wallet, the only way proven to work.
I was not the person who started the online petition...I just edited it. The person who started it did so because he had spoken to Motorola, and they did not believe that the problems he was reporting were widespread. Motorola claimed that he was the first to contact them about the problems. He asked Motorola if it would help the cause if he could prove that others were experiencing problems, and Motorola said it would. While many of the names can't be verified, some of us chose to include our phone numbers. I, for one, would be more than happy to discuss the problems with any Motorola or Verizon rep that would like to discuss them with me. Finally, I actually do have a contact at Verizon, that I made some time ago when I wrote a Planet Feedback letter concerning the v710. It is my intention to make sure that he also receives a copy of the petition. I realize that these may not be the best ways to get the E815 problems corrected. But at least we are trying something. Andy W.
I can't tell from the above if you are being serious, or mocking us. But for the record, I will state that I really like the E815, and think it is an excellent phone. The speaker echo problem seems like it can be avoided by not using "Obeymoto." While I might like to use Obeymoto and the speakerphone at the same time, until the problem gets corrected, I can avoid doing so. It's not a big enough deal for me to not want the phone. But on the other hand, it is a big enough deal that Motorola should fix it. The alarm issue also has a workaround. If the calendar is used, instead of the alarm function, the calendar alarm will sound. It's a little kludgy, but it works. For now. But there simply is no good reason for Motorola not to fix that problem too. The bottom line is that at least in my mind, the phone is an excellent phone, that has some problems. I'm just trying to help Motorola solve them as quickly as possible. Andy W.
