Looks like the E815 is gone from both the VZW website and the b2b site. Does that signal the end of line?.
Seems like some say the phone was amazing and some say very problematic. I did not own one so I can't say in the end was it a good phone or not.
Well, I used mine for three months with no problems whatsoever. The signal, battery life, and volume were excellent.
I wouldn't start inventing conspiracy theories - I imagine that this would have been the logical EOL for the E815, regardless of other issues. Besides, there are a number of new Motos in the pipeline (K1c, SLVR L7c, etc.), and both Moto and VZW would want to clear the shelves of older inventory.
I'll miss that phone. Even though it had some bugs(like every phone does) overall it's the best phone I've owned. I've had it for over a year now and I still love it.
None of the PDA/Smartphones, including the Q, have the Verizon UI. In fact, 4 have Windows Mobile of some sort, the two Treos use the Palm OS, and of course there are the Blackberrys. So, no need for the Verizon standard UI.
I've had my E815 for 2 months now and I love it. I hate the Verizon UI, so I guess I got lucky and got one of the last non-verizon UI phones.
When I was in the Verizon store yesterday by me, they had them in stock still, which is suprising being the store is the #1 in sales in the U.S.
What I don't understand is why VZW doesn't have another Motorola to replace it with. Over all the phone was everything most people wanted. I loved the keypad and the UI but the camera suxed!
The E815 may have been a workhorse, but it's not 'pretty' like a RAZR. If you'll notice, Moto went and threw all of its design efforts from the Vxxx/E815 series to the RAZR and its variants (including, in a way, the PEBL). I imagine both Moto and VZW see the upcoming K1c as the successor to the E815, if not the RAZR.
After just over five months with the E815 I lost mine due to a faulty case clip. When I called Asurion (the insurance co. Verizon contracts with) they told me the E815 was no longer available. Instead, they offered me an LG VX8300. It's similar in design and dimensions to the E815 but the feature set is much better. After a day & a half with the VX8300 there's no way I'd go back. The VX8300 is just a better phone all around. While I have no serious complaints about the E815, there were a couple of shortcomings that marred my user experience. After just three months of moderate use the main screen developed a rash of white dots (visible when the screen was turned off) and the antenna mast developed a number of kinks. To be fair, I suspect the kinks in the mast were from my vehicle seat belt. In hindsight, I could have avoided this by utilizing a dash-mounted cradle. Live & learn.
i liked the E815 because it didn't use the Verizon interface :googlyeye......man i hated that thing.....well the one thing i didnt like about the E815 was that it was all-difital and didn't have AMPS backup
I love the keypad and the UI on the 815. I always had a trimode phone because alot of Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington traveling.......but I don't miss amps at all!
i don't like AMPS much either......but its good for when the CDMA is unavailable.......its always good to have a plan B
The K1c is at least 6 weeks away, and the L7c is even further out. They are probably making room for the W315.
