As of October 1st, the ic502 has been released to specific channels, including retentions. The ic402 will be available as a retention tool later this month. In early November they will release the phones in 24 markets through all channels except for nation retailers. The nation launch will be in the 1st quarter of 07 with a huge media campaign.
I've been told that the IDEN portion of the phone will only work as a walkie talkie. If true that sucks. Maybe we'll have to wait for the next hybrid phone to be able to have a device that we can pick and choose which network we want to use.
Ha Good luck on that one   The real shame on this is the phones don't have the ability to roam on the cellular bands. It will roam, but only on the 1900 PCS frequencies. A lot of remote areas are only covered by cellular A and B blocks.
You won't see any hybrid phone working with voice calls on CDMA. This phone was made specifically for 2 purposes: 1) Help get customers off iDen in areas where the iDen network is overcrowded 2) Get customers onto the CDMA network in that same network, while still giving them fast PTT
I would like to be able to mix Sprint & Nextel phones on the same account/plan. My mom has a thing for Motorola and she really wants Nextel because of this. I just hope some of the new Sprint Motorola's will be to her liking and reasonably priced.
