    Hello wireless advisor

I currently own the motorola droid x that I purchased 3 weeks ago. My cousin who has the droid original has some apps that I would like to down load however I am unable to locate these apps from my phone. My cousins phone is original and not modified. I would like to know why i can not find these apps as they peak my interest. Any insights any one can provide would be great.

FYI I i search the ANDROID market place by the name or category of the app however it seems like it doesnt exist.

If an app no longer exists would it be operational even though it doesnt exist??

Thanks as always wireless advisor as this is my favorite wireless site.

    Thanks

    Jared

Is your phone using Android 2.2? Do you know if your cousin's phone is also on 2.2? Depending on the Android version you have, some things are available that aren't on other versions. It may be compatibility issues with apps between versions, or it could be the app is no longer in circulation, but will still work until or if it is ever uninstalled.

Which apps are you looking for?

It looks like it's not available anymore. It was available when the first Droid came out.

Have you tried any other 3rd party app sites?

Jared, third party app sites come with a risk. There's no guarantee the app won't have issues or be a security risk. The Android app store is a much better at this, but even they have issues.

If you don't already have Lookout or AVG on your phone, think about downloading one of them. They are great virus protectors for the phone. I use AVG Free on my Droid X.

Google should be able to provide you many third party Android app sites. They are out there. In fact, Amazon is set to have their own app store for Android soon. Just be aware of the risks of venturing outside of the "relatively" safe Android app store.

From some research I did, I couldn't find anything current about PV player. It existed in 2009 and early 2010, but that seems to be it.

You might want to see if there's a away you can get that app from your relative via transfer? Don't know if this is possible, but it wouldn't hurt to find out.

Thanks for the compliment. Glad I could help! :)

Was PV player Packet Video? That was probably absorbed by some other company and is now a different product--check packetvideo.com

Others, like some MP3 downloaders have been removed due to piracy concerns.
