Alright I have made my decision down to 3 phones: *LG VX4500 *Audiovox CDM8910 *Samsung SCH-a670 All of these phones I would get I just cant decide. I am not in it for the camera phone or features. Here is what I need. ~Solid feeling phone well built ~Good reception ~Good battery life ~Feels good in hand These four things are what are important to me now I need some suggestios and help as what to get. I trust all of you enough to make my decision. But I only want to decide between these three phones and no others thanks.
Out of the three you listed, I'd say either the Samsung, or the LG.. but do they still sell the 4500?? I thought maybe that was a typo but not sure. I've never delt w/ an audiovox, so I couldn't tell ya. What's wrong w/ the lg 5200 or 6100?? lol... yeah but aynway keep us posted on what you get.
why get it when you can get the updated model with more battery life and better screen? Unless your talking of getting a used one.
The Audiovox 8910 is a piece of crap, don't even consider that phone. Reps at my local RadioShack refuse to even sell it, Verizon employees say it's a bad phone, and I've read some bad things about it on HoFo. Go for the Samsung or the LG. I have a Samsung a670 and I really like mine so personally I'd get the Samsung.
I agree with Dan, the Audiovox seems to be a piece of crap. A friend of mine has the a670 and is quite happy with it. Aren't there other phones you can consider and get for free/cheap with NE2, even a VCast phone?
The 6100 is a big piece of crap in the RF department. Everyone I know that has it complains about its RF. I was at a local library in the basement the other day and a lady had no service on her VX6100 while I had 2 bars and could make/receive calls perfectly. A friend of mine with a VX6100 consistently drops calls at home where I have no problem whatsoever and get 3-4 bars on my Moto.
Must have been an early batch, I did a side by side test posted in the forum back a while and the 6100 was to ONLY phone that worked against a slider, and 3 of my VX 10s. and an older Moto. This was in a known VZW hole. Could it be the software?
I was wondering the same thing. Bottom line is that I have not seen any VX6100, whether an older one or a newer one outperform my Moto. I have read somewhere, though, that the software has something to do with it too, but I can't find it anymore...maybe I'm wrong?
Well I dont know what one I will start off with if I dont like one then I will use my 15 day trial period and go with another thank goodness for that I am also glad I am on a year contract.
My 6100 has never done any of what you said. It's always outperformed other phones by getting better reception, etc.... I am thinking that it maybe an early batch of phones you've saw, or maybe a different software version.
Andy, I am not dead set on only these three phones but they are the ones that look good for me and for what I need. I would like to get the Moto E815 but I just dont like Moto I have had nothing but bad luck with them no offense. I will try one and then like I said I will give another a try but I am still open to other phones but I dont see any others than these three that I would like.
If you think you might be interested in VCast, I'd get an EVDO capable phone now since it's not going to be long until EVDO is up and running along the wasatch front.
Really phones are unique individuals no matter how precise the manufacturing process, some can squeak out a tiny bit more RF from the same chip where the next one a bit less. I have had 3 of the same kind of phones and noticed that 1 out preforms the other 2 side by side. I just got a refurbished unit last month that is not as good as the older one was in signal holding. I have seen this with all brands. Oh Well.
So if I wased to have an older software version, can it be updated over-the-air or would I have to take it into the vzw store, or what would I do to update it? I'm kinda dumb when it comes to things such as that.
To get the firmware on the phone updated you would have to take it to a store and get a tech to flash the phone. I've heard that it should take about 20 mintues or so.
oh. i probably won't have that done.. unless the phone starts to mess up or act weird. so far no problems though.
I never bothered with it. I've got a Moto V60S that still have the original firmware on it, and I've had no problems.
My choice would be the A670 also. Don't think I've heard any good things on Audiovox lately. A coworker had the XV6600 a few months back but was so unhappy with it, he bought the A670. Now he uses the 6600 has a standalone PDA and tells me that construction and design is downright shoddy.
