Does anyone know about 3G in westchester ny area.

    HI, I live in New Rochelle NY, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they know if 3G will be there soon. I went to a Att store and the man looked it up on some website. He told me in February it was going to be there. Is there a way to find out? Is it really better than the EVDO service for sprint and verizon?

    That depends on your needs as well as the coverage and built out quality of each network in your area. Looks like VZW and Sprint have had 3g up in New Rochelle for quite a while now.

    They have been building out the 3G in the NY/NJ area's recently we have been getting it around here in NJ mainly along the highways, I know there are a few towers still not converted but I would say 90% have been in the last month to month and a half.

    No one can say 100% sure if by February you will have it, but if what I have been seeing around here lately is an indication, I would say it could happen by then in Westchester.

    Some portions of Westchester have 3G, mostly along 287 and White Plains and then on I-95 near CT. However, 95 down by the eastern portion of the Bronx and Yonkers don't have 3G. It's the gap they need to close to have 3G coverage on I-95 from Boston all the way to Philly.
