I'm about to "hurl" my phone at the wall, flush it down the toilet, or do something "bad" to T-Mobile! I hate the My T-Mobile address book back-up system! :censored:

The problem was worse with the Samsung T-659 I had, but is happening again with the Sony Ericsson Equinox I just purchased. I finally get the address book in and right, but then I simply try to enter in a new entry. When my phone then talks to the website and visa-versa, it then duplicates, triplicates and "mixes" contacts together!:mad::banghead: If I go in either to the website or phone...delete the duplicates, it'll then put them back in again! Or it'll take my personal addresses and put them back in as a business address in my phone!

Recently I had the audacity to add in a new contact for a pizza place we frequent. I entered everything to the correct spot on the phone, save it and thought it was done with. BUT NOOOO! It then took 2 of my other contacts, duplicated one, triplicated the other...and within one of the triplicated contacts it mixed my friends address and phone #'s with the pizza place! :censored:

Anybody have any suggestions on preventing this from happening? I'm ready to go back to a BlackBerry, which doesn't use this service...or jumping the "SS-T-Mobile" for good! Is T-Mobile aware of this issue? Each time I call one of the reps or tech's, it's like they are oblivious to the situation. I can't believe I'm the only one having this issue.

Sorry for the rant. Let me know if you have any knowledge about this or suggestions.

    Thanks!
    Chris

    Nevermind ALL...Sorry!

Guess if I enter it via the website it seems to work better than adding a new contact on the phone. My apologies for the rant!:loony:

this is a known but very rare issue, it's not handset related it's definately system related, a help desk ticket needs to be filed for your acct and in about a week or two problem should go away, sorry this is not common knowledge with CSRs

Thanks TMobileman for your suggestion and advise. Should I file this "help desk ticket" with a regular CSR, or someone in the tech dept?

Also...a little off subject here, how would I find out where to set the "download limit" setting in my e-mail settings. You either have to set it at some "kb" number, or put it at "no limit". Does that mean I would have no limit at all? Or does that mean "limit-less"? That I can pull in a file as large as the phone will allow?

Seems like I get attachments on the e-mails, but can't access them. It tells me to save them to a file, then I can't access the file! So if I'm not allowed to view attachments, why does the e-mail service on my phone put them into the e-mail's?!? :headscrat

Am thinking about e-mailing Sony-Ericsson, for it wasn't in any of the manuals that came with the phone. Also need to find smaller earpiece headphones that'll work with that proprietary jack. The ones that came with the phone are too big!

    Again, Thanks!

I just wish it would ask before it starts the upload. I have over 200 contacts on the SIM and the phone is useless while it's doing its thing.

What I did to alleviate this issue was export my contacts to a CSV to have a backup of them. Deleted all of the contacts from my phone and made it sync with My TMobile. Once the online system showed all of my contacts in the trashcan, I went through and added back the correct ones and had it resync down to my phone.

It was tedious and in my opinion a large pain in the rear, but it DID work. All changes I made/make after that either from my phone and/or the website have sync'd without fail.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Tadlock...believe I ended up doing something similar...now my contacts seems to be correct. Problem may be over soon...may go back to BlackBerry or give an Android phone a try.

Didn't mean to "rant" so much earlier...just had a frustrating moment where I thought that I was going to hurl the phone or tear it apart! Then I calmed down and tried other avenue's, such as what you suggested. I like to believe that I'm a patient person...but guess I can have my moments! It still doesn't alleviate the fact that T-Mobile's "system" needs some tweaking or help!

    Thanks again!
