    Hi all,
Up here again in NE Mich, this time with my Nokia 6015i. The new PRL does not include cell1, but IK my way around that :). It seems that as alltel has expanded, they have not kept putting up analog, which seems to get through the pine trees better than digital. Anyway, cell1 still has their analog and CDMA (1g) up here. It works well on my america's choice. I figured out a way to place a call to any phone number when in an area your PRL does not allow you to. You simply go into the programming of the phone and set your voicemail access number as an emergency number (with cell1, its your 7 digit cell, even while roaming). That way, when you dial your voicemail, the phone will go into emergency mode, and will pick up any tower it can see reguardless of PRL. Then, if you have a voicemail on your phone, press 88 to call back, change the number, and call away! Verizon is gonna freak when they see how many minutes i've used on dobson.

Does anyone have a PRL editor for nokias? I have one for Moto's, ans will trade. I really would like to not have to go through my voicemail in order to place calls.

Oh, the other thing, if you want to be able to recieve calls, set another emergency number to a made-up number like "528". Then when you have no service, call that number, and hang up.
The phone will stay in e911 mode, and you will be able to recieve calls until it exits by itself (in about 5-10 minutes).

Mabey I do like e911 after all.

I guess you are on AC2 then, correct?
Is there a way on your nokia to set your NAM2 to Dobson's system?
I'm on AC2 as well and have tried to set my NOkia 3589i's to Cingular AMPS system using NAM2, and since they are not in the PRL it seems like it's not working. If we figured out how to use NAM2 on the NOkias this would probably be the best way, wouldn't it?

Can't you program the SID to Dobson and set the phone to Home Only? I don't have a CDMA Nokia, but I know Motos are like that. Even if you program NAM2 with the SID that works best for you and then set the phone to Home Only, that should work, right? What Dobson SID are you using up there 1337?

My nokia does not have a second NAM (thats visible). It seems they've locked us out of that one. The ability to force a carrier depends on the PRL, and yes, the PRL's are seperate for both NAM's. If NAM2 has not been programmed, the PRL (for NAM2) is a blank one, and you can force any system just by changing the SID.

And yes, I am on ACII.

I thought VZW had pulled roaming with Dobson entirely in ALL Dobson markets; I guess I was wrong... (More than likely the RFB market was under a separate agreement from the rest of Dobson and VZW is keeping that one area alive.)

Was up in the Eastern UP this past weekend (Sault Ste. Marie), had great 1x coverage the whole way with my Verizon AC2 plan (PRL 50371); was roaming on SID 244 from the moment I crossed into MI from Indiana in the Lower Peninsula, crossed into some native Verizon (SID 21) in the Grand Rapids area, and then back to 244 the whole way. The only time I had "trouble" was at the Rock Cut by Neebish Island were I ended up roaming onto a Canadian tower. Otherwise, VM (had to dial my own # to check VM, though), TXT messaging, it all worked flawlessly. Yea!!

I did play around with forcing my phone over to the Dobson network, but it showed a "D", not 1x and I never did make any calls on their system. I have my phone forced to CDMA only, so I never did anything with Analogue up there, either.

    Happy calling in the Soo!

FYI: SID 244 is Alltel and they have rolling out 1X like mad this year. Also EVDO in the Lansing area.
