Yes, in my home office. It is an AT&T Micro Cell. There is no tower close enough to give me service any other way.
That is counter to what the poll was asking. A base station is an antenna attached to a tower or on a rooftop.
There is one site about 1/2 mile due south of my house. Another one about 1 mile to the SW of my house. The one that is about a mile away is "special" to me because I did the archaeology at the site of the tower while it was being built.
I can see my local Verizon tower 1 mile away to my south (I force my phone to use that mostly). And a tall AT&T tower looms over my property less than ¼ mile away. My local Alltel (Allied Wireless) tower is 3 miles north, and can be seen up my street thru the trees in the winter (when theres no foliage).
Not in my area, they were divested in overlapping markets, and bought out by ATNI in parts of 6 states, the rest went to AT&T. I'm still an Alltel customer, and little has changed except ownership & management of the markets. Check them out: Alltel Wireless
Yes, it's about 1.5 KM south. But sometimes my phone insists on registering on a base station 23 KM north.
I can see mine (monopole) from my bedroom window. LOL Its in the corner/backyard of a nearby church's parking lot.
