My family and I are tired of having to walk out to our mailbox to talk on our cell phones. :loony: I've heard about "booster" antennae that can be purchased and placed on the roof of a house. Do these typically work and if you've had success (or failures) with one, which brand/model and how hard was it to install? Many thanks!

Yes they work. Their effectiveness depends on the type of phone you have and how its connected. A direct connection to the phone is much better. The placement of the antenna feeding the booster is also important. i would recommend a Cyfree amp and a Wilson antenna. I have installed lots of setups and I can say from experience the Cyfree amp has more gain and the Wilson antennas are tuned a little bit better. Whatever you do stay with one of those brands.
I have never dealt with repeaters because most of my installs are in real remote areas where direct hardwire connections are a must.
A good passive antenna may work too but it has to be hardwired to the phone. If your not sure get the amp too.

IF you have broadband you could try another soon to be available option. A Femtocell from Verizon made to work with your Verizon service.

If you have a good DSL or a cable modem connection at home just get the Network Extender.

Keep us posted. Lots of people are interested. You may have to move it around a bit to get the coverage just right. Good luck.

Do you mean that your Verizon Network Extender is not able to place calls? If so did you ask Verizon, since its new?
