What the was that guy's problem? It was his fault that he was late....not the customer's fault. If he did that to our house...we would probably sue the installer guy and maybe even the company after we call the police. It seems like the women should have free satellite service for a year or even longer imho. :browani:
DirectTV or Dish Network, which ever one it was, should be giving this family free satellite service for life. This guy had serious issues.
I don't know about service for life, but at least pay for all the damages and give them a free system and the complete channel tiers (yes, including porno) free for at least one year!
Ouch, you got to wonder what set that guy off, was he on drugs or something? Well after reading that story, I think I will just mount my dish myself, save myself some problems.......
It's really pretty easy, especially if your house is 1 story. I do recommend investing in a good compass for the dish alignment as it will save a LOT of headaches.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone PM-8200/US/1.0) NetFront/3.1 MMP/2.0) I read that story about 2 weeks ago. Remind me to never complain to the installer when I have my dish installed later on this year.
Actually, besides a compass, you still need a satellite scanner for higher precision. After that, to fine tune, I would get on my cell phone and put the home phone next to the TV to hear the receiver's beeps while I am on the roof and have someone browsing through the transponders downstairs to ensure the best reception in all satellites and transpoders. This reduces the likelyness of dropping out when storms come in (although it happens if the clouds are too thick anyway). As soon as you get the dish inclined (tilted) correctly and the vertical tube aligned properly, you should get similar reception on all satellites without much fine tuning. It is quite easy if done correctly from the start. So you will need a level to ensure that pipe is vertical.
Jeez...just get cable, all you have to do is plug in a TV to get that to work! Let them worry about where to point the satellite.
Well said all's you have to do is plug in a cable and your done. No pointing the satellite thingy in the right direction. LOL
Bobolito has some excellent advice, especially about having a friend inside of the house to check your signal strength. DirecTV has many competent installers who are not nuts and you can get free installation as well as equipment for as little as a 1-year commitment. You can read up on DTV's installers on the TiVo Community Forum (link is for DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo forum) if you are especially concerned.
I allways installed my dish myself, I had thought about taking them up on the movers deal where they give you a new dish and install it for $25 so that I would end up with an extra dish, but the catch is that you have to sign for an extra year, so its just as easy to install it myself. Also there are other forums out there that have MUCH more detailed info about aiming and installing and other things that can be done to the receivers.......but I wont post a link to that I was also thinking of switching to Dish so I can get my WWE pay per views again. So I may call them.....decisions decisions....... Oh, and by the way, I do have cable......for internet anyway
Do you mean Deal Data****? I really don't understand why the TiVo Community admins are so ticked off about them - - you can't even mention their name without the threat of getting banned.
I like other sites where they refer to DTV as Dave and Dish as Charlie....They have a lot more information.... If you've never heard of this, don't ask!
Charlie Chat is one of those quirky things where you either enjoy it, or you don't. Not many Billion dollar CEO's will take calls live from customers, let's see Comcast or Time Warner do that!
Exactly.....by the way, those sites seem like they are dropping like flies, the last one that I knew of says there is a problem with the database, been like that for a few days.
