Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Question for Michelle: I ask only because of your close association with the master of all things karambit (I was reffering to Tarani, not Yello in this case ). Ever hear of whether or not he may ever do a video based on the course he teaches for the Surefire Institute?? I would love to see that if it existed. I'm guessing not, since they seem to be close-hold with their material, but it would be nice if he did/could. So many cool instructors/courses...none of them closeby. I am of the opinion that this is one of the best things to learn for the average man or woman who wants to learn some real-world SD techniques without your full level martial arts training...especially with the creation of the crenulated strike bezels. It's a little easier for some people to wrap their brains around that they may actually have to use it oneday. Plus, as I have mentioned enough times to become annoying with it, I love the stuff one can do with the tools that draw the least attention to ones self. That being said, Yello, you need to quit posting those Strider PS pics...I keep drooling all over my keyboard!
A handy tip... Just discovered that a "eclipse mints" tin container holds 4 CR123 batteries nicely....Good if you're carrying your L4 and just need spare batteries, not a lamp. Also..if you're out for then night and don't want to carry some big spares carrier do what I do. Wrap your batteries in sets of two with reynoldswrap then wrap once with scotch tape. The size of two batteries goes unnoticed in your pocket, and they are there if you need it.
Re: A handy tip... You do realize that the aluminum will generate a circuit, slowly killing your batteries, right?
Re: A handy tip... I meant plastic wrap, not foil. Is Renoldswrap foil? My Bad! Basically I shrink wrap them. Also to protect against moisture.
Re: A handy tip... Reynoldswrap is foil. I actually do have the spares carrier for the e series. It's handy, and I'm not sure I paid for it...I think I may have gotten it gratis
Re: A handy tip... I wouldn't mind having the SC1 spares carrier...but $15?? Plus another $20 for a sprare lamp to put in it. Speaking of..thinking about grabbing about 10 of those $.99 batteries TTS has, see how good and how long they last. I love the new setup. Now you can see how many people actucally read this thread.
Training Tools and Resources This is frustrating to me. I have been on the lookout for any kind of good training courses nearby for me to attend. Just looked at Contactdefense.com looking for nearby "power of Llight" classes and saw nothing nearby on there (there was an ohio contact point..wonder what he does??). I have seen a lot of good courses and a lot of respected trainers searching the web, mostly through links and people involved at USN or SDF. Have you ever seen a (for lack of a better term) "Master" self defense training site. One that would have links to everyone, and maybe rate the courses? There just ain't nothing exciting around here. Granted, I still haven't checked out the "Sikal" (Kali/Silat hybrid) guy or the Krav Maga place. Maybe once I am settled and know for sure I got that job tommorrow. Would just be nice to be able to take a course from someone well known like Tarani or Keating...or be close enough to train at places like R.B.F.C.. When you have a lack of renowned trainersnearby, I guess you have videos to look forward to. But there is a lot of BS out there you have to sort through. Other than Tarani or Emersons' Karambit videos...have you seen anything out there or heard of anything where someone said "Man! You gotts check this out!" Would be a good addition to the DAYBATv2.0 resources post (once that is made)
Re: Training Tools and Resources I've heard Ray Dionaldo's video is pretty good as well. Sorry to hear that you can't find a good place to train...don't have that prob in NYC!!! Ha ha
Re: Training Tools and Resources Like I said, still looking. Another problem is the jobs I commonly get are often in the same hours people want to have class.
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread I'll call Steve tomorrow and find out for you. Also I'll pick his brain on training places in your area. Will give you the data dump here tomorrow after I talk to him. m1
The Devils Dream Vacation Yello... Wanna take a trip? I almost want to start saving... I've heard of this, and it sounds like a good time. I ain't going by myself though! "If you were living New Orleans in the early 19th-Century and were challenged to a knife duel, and had only one week to learn everything you needed to know, whom would you seek out for instruction?" Good Times From Realfighting.com.... "Most of us know Mr. Keating from his famous "Riddle of Steel" event held once a year in the wilds of Washington. For four days, 50 to 60 individuals from various backgrounds learn tactical knife skills that include: Filipino stick / knife, Bowie knife-fighting, empty hand defenses, knife disarms and improvised weapons. The cream of the knife world has attended the Riddle of Steel, they have included such luminaries as: Kelly Worden, Fred Perrin, Laci Szabo, Jerry VanCook, Michael Janich, Bill Bagwell, Spyderco's own Sal Glesser, Dr. Mike Kaye, Bill Sanders, Italy's Maik Farone, Australia's Peter James, well known SOF war correspondent Rob Krott and Bram Frank to name a few."
Re: The Devils Dream Vacation Sorry dude, I'm either going to be buried at school or at BladeWest.... <hint hint> <no, not to you Delta>
Re: The Devils Dream Vacation Ah well...they have video of it. I think it would be one hell of a trip though! On the flip side, the $1000 admission fee would get some other good training elsewhere.
Re: The Devils Dream Vacation Dude, flying out to Cali, getting a hotel room, going every day to the show and drinking every night still wouldn't cost me that friggin much!
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Hey, Michelle...Don't know how I missed your post last night..just saw it. Thanks for the help!
Re: The Devils Dream Vacation Where's Blade west at and when? That would be cool...ESPECIALLY if we could get a certain Verizon Wireless employee to show up....( I say that now, but by then there will be something that prohibits me...) Text'd him the other day. All he basically said was "I've been so busy I'm about to go insane" Then again, if it's in california, I'd be too scared to go after watching "10.5" on TV last night...
Re: The Devils Dream Vacation It's in Ontario California, about an hour from LA. I highly doubt he'd find time to head down there from where he is considering HE DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO VISIT US HERE!!!
Re: Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver 2.0 2 1/2 hours to zero-hour..... Just out of curiosity, and mostly because I am bored and can't think of anything productive to talk about, I was wondering what you and M1 had next on your "must buy" list. Gotta go get ready.
Re: Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver 2.0 I'm hoping to score a Strider SMF folder one of these days.
The ultimate weapon! The title is a joke. I had to post this. It is an excerpt from a product description some guy posted over at SDF. It's called a "Clave" which to me looks like any garden variety koppo stick. Check it: "It's very new… and yet it's causing a sensation among the "insiders" in the fighting world… because it's the first major breakthrough in "personal weaponry" in a thousand years!. Once you know how to use it (and this will take all of about 30 minutes with the help of the video) the Clave will create an impenetrable "force field" around you that nothing alive can pass through without being broken. On the video, you will see a thick, hard-shelled coconut tossed into the air and then shattered like a stale soda cracker! It's a vicious weapon. It's just nasty. Yet, with the right instruction (available ONLY from Jesse himself), it's actually easy to learn and simple to use. There's nothing else like it in martial arts." Now THATS funny. If I had one of those, you couldn't hurt me...I would have an inpenatratable force field. As far as it being "the first major breakthrough in "personal weaponry" in a thousand years!"...I guess that guy never heard of Glock, or any other firearm for that matter.
Re: Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver 2.0 Ummmm.... let's see.... I need a new sofa pretty badly.... A pair of Carlos Santa pumps I've had my eye on forever.... Tapes on how to learn Cantonese in 30 days..... Was that what you meant? lol m1
Re: Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver 2.0 Hmmm...I've been eyeballing those pumps too, hope you're not the same size as me... Working on my Irish and French...Irish is tough!!!
Re: Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver 2.0 Ok, for all you guys lurking here, this is my close friend Michelle. Say hi and make her feel welcome...or be PUNISHED
Re: Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver 2.0 Ok. In all seriousness. Either a Strider MV or Hossom's new kerambit as soon as CKT does the first run. I gotta flip a coin on this one.
