I'm not going to kick off the successor to the wildly popular "D.A.Y.B.A.T." just yet. I would feel like I was smoking in a new church. Let me begin by saying that I really like the new setup. Those of you who this looks totally new to, will soon prefer the "V-Bulletin" setup over the old, crusty one. I'm also digging the new forums. Looks like a big improvement to me! Look forward to participating in the new house. Now how do we get the cool, built in smilies the other V-boards have?? D.A.Y.B.A.T. will reconviene soon....
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread This IS much better. Can't wait to check back later and see it building up. Gotta head out for now.
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Well how does it feel that The Delta and Yello Bad A@# Thread has to start over again??
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Sad, so sad. We just cracked 300 posts today....not to mention there was a ton of info and good gear reviews mixed in with the bs'ing, and we have to build the castle back up again. BTW...how the heck do you edit the thread title? You used to be able to do it... And where is Yello?
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread probably trying to get in, i hear some had a hard time because of old e-mail addresses....
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Now that YOU'RE here we can.....We gotta have a gun nut to balance us out!
Delta and Yello's Bad @ss Thread Ver. 2.0 Just occured to me there has been no knife pics put up yet. Here's a pic of what the brown santa will be bringing me wednsday!
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Here we go, home sweet home. First order of business, can be please name this thread properly? Second order of business, I will be posting up pictures of my knives shortly Third order of business, we need to get my friend Michelle in here, who's another bad@$$, although a petite bad@$$
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Alright, time to get this started... This was my first tactical knife, the Emerson SOCFK. I still have it, sitting in my drawer, still razor sharp Next was the Emerson CQC-10, which I've had two, but sold both of them. I hate serrated knives After that, the Emerson Commander, still one of my favorites My backup knife, the Emerson Mini CQC-7 Now, part of my every day carry, two of these babies: the Emerson Combat Karambit The Emerson La Griffe, which I love and makes for a great back up knife for my fixed blades Finally, this is one of my favorites, for when I don't feel like carrying two knives, the Emerson Super SOCFK, four inches of stainless steel edge goodness
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread I had a Benchmade 42T balisong for awhile, but just couldn't get into it
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Then I went into the realm of Striders, which is hard to get out of. This was my first, the Strider HS karambit. A mean knife, but ultimately didn't feel right in my hand. Photo by my good friend Shelby Chan I wound up selling it, and getting two of these: the Strider PS. All photos by Shelby Chan My favorite photo of all time
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread One last one: my Blackwood titanium credit card knife, for when the waiter won't take your plastic
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Stuff I'll have soon: Strider SMF Strider MV This is a really interesting knife, but only Michelle knows how to use it to kill someone. I'm not trained to use it's unique properties Blade Tech Tarani Karambit
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Oooops... Forgot to mention this one, which arrived yesterday: Benchmade/Blackwood 630 Skirmish
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Flashlights actually make excellent self defense weapons. If you're in the dark, and shine someone in the eyes with this, momentarily blinding them and them whacking them in either a fleshy sensitive area or a bony area that will break, you can get enough time to run My Inova X5 Surefire L4 Surefire E2D
Bad @ss on a budget Working on the thread title thing. The rules are different here. You think that's air you're breathing?? I like what you have done to kick things off. Let me lend a bit of my flavor. Keep in mind that Yello is the subject of much jealousy from me and the day he starts buying $400 Strider folders I'm gonna lose it. My title here is "Bass @ss on a budget"...or "Good for those not (yet) trainied in the fighting arts' The standard armament is a little device that Yello has yet to embrace, but I am sure that once he does, he will never be without one (more likely, two) It's called the Comtect Stinger, and is what is called a "Force Multiplier". When you punch with it in your hand, you increase the power (and the pain) tenfold. If you have any boxing training, you can reallydo serious bone-crushing damage. They are only about $8-$10. If you order 3 from Comtech, you can get them for $24, and that includes shipping. Give your girl one...just don't pi$$ her off. You already saw this pic twice, but keep in mind it is very small, very lethal, and best of all is a great UTILITY knife. If you know where to look (or ask) you can pick one up for about $54.00 (which is a deal) This pic I found shows the size better. I , like Yello, also think that a good flashlight is necessary. Not only do they come in handy, but you can blind an attacker at night then bash the bejeezus of of him. My Surefire 6P is perfect for that. It's bigger than the ones yello posted, but not too big. It is the perfect size for a fistload, and the whole bezel sticks out from the bottom of your hand, which makes it a natural flash to hammerfist tool. It is 65 lumens in power (read that as Bright!) and upgradeable to 120 (with a reduction in runtime). Aslo have an Inova X5 and some photon keychain lights as other possible EDC carriyables. Last but not least, everyone at a minimum should have a good, PC (thats Politically Correct) folder. The reason? Everyone needs one, and If you ever have to use it, it is a lot easier to explain to the nice LEO (law enforcement officer.) I use a KaBar Folder, which is very thin and light (and you guessed it..only about $28) Everything else is just icing on the cake. You can pick up kydex sheaths for your Stinger to carry on your keychain or around your neck: Dont forget to pickup (the last thing I ordered): A quick detach hoster to hold that expensive-@___ Surefire: Also not a bad idea to have a small fanny-pack, or the newest bag I have come to want, a Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack. All the better to hold your extra batteries and other good stuff. Almost forget: The other "Must have" EDC item...one which is near and dear to all of you, The CELL PHONE!
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread That Benchhmade is ugly!! BTW MR Yello, what are your thoughts on Pikal? (Edge-in knife fighting)
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread I actually don't know much about Pikal, to be honest with you. I've never seen it in person. If we could get Michelle's **** in here, then she might be able to give you some insight. How do you attach your Surefire to the nylon thing? It attaches horizontally to your belt? The Benchmade IS ugly, but it's a collectors item. It'll be going to someone else soon enough. Did you cordwrap your La Griffe yet?
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread I saw some demo clips of Pikal, and what first seemed like a dumb idea suddenly made perfect sense. Think of it as a natural extension of "Block...slash...block...slash" Considering picking up the Southnarc DVD on it. After I get some Emerson/Tarani stuff of course! The pic of the Surefire holster...it's just flattened out. It has one of the big metal clips like my Ripoffs Inova holster did I sold to Sean Kendrick. Good for taking it off without having to undo your belt. Griffe don't arrive till Wednsday.
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread And as I mentioned before, I really want to see you order a couple Stingers (make sure they are "clear" color...BIG difference!) and try them out. They're cheap. Make sure you get them HERE as they will give you the best deal. Plus only $5 shipping for up to 25 of them!
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Gotta hop off here for a bit, but I was thinking of posting a list of our favorite suppliers in case anyone decides they want to try some of this stuff. TADgear, Texas Tactical, Comtech, Surefire (Direct) etc...
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread First, I am not affiliated with any of these companies, though they all know me by first name now For Emersons and Striders: Tadgear Texas Tactical Supplies (will usually match lowest price, and usually has almost everything in stock. Most of my collection is from Will) Extreme Outfitters (the only ones that carry the SOCFK) Ebay Karambits: Karambit.com I bought all my Strider karambits from them, and my trainers, as well as a kick @$$ book for reference; the owner, Sandy, is the nicest lady you'll ever meet Texas Tactical for the Emerson karambits Flashlights: Tadgear for the rare occassion that they have some in Tactical Warehouse (customer service is great) Plaza Cutlery All of these companies are awesome. Will at Texas Tactical will match or beat the lowest price, and he's a real nice guy. The guys at Tad are always very friendly. Sandy is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. And Chris at Extreme Outfitters will go out of his way to make you happy as far as getting knives with a low serial # Hi Michelle!
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread Actually, yes you do know about pikal... you're just getting bunched up on the terminology. Pikal grip is what is commonly known as "ice pick" grip... or prison grip. Lol. Tip of knife pointed inward... I think you and I recently discussed the advantages of fighting this way... as well as the disadvantges. If its done correctly though (held in close alignment with the forearm) its has many good uses. If its done badly, its the easiest disarm there is. Common grip is Langit - or saber grip... tip pointed foward... more reach this way, but also some disadvantages inherant to that too... its all about cicumstances and opponent. The Benchmade is NOT ugly. It was designed by Neil Blackwood. What about it is ugly? Speak up!! I'm taking you guys to task on this one... Ohio isn't that far away... after that its just a quick flight to NY. You guys are in trouble now!! m1
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread MICHELLE!!!! YEAAAAA!!! M1 IS HEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Thanks for the clarification. Like we were saying the other day, my guro doesn't really go over terms with me, so sometimes I'm lost. Ok, I'll hand it to Neil, it's a bad@$$ knife, but there ain't no way I'm carrying a knife with colored dots on the side! Hmmm...though, it's a knife very much like you...pretty, hardcore, and STRONG. That framelock isn't going to fold!
Re: The Delta and Yello Thread That Benchmade looks like a Trap-Door Spider splattered in paint. But as I concede..thats just my opinion. Glad to have you here M1 !! And thanks for the input on pikal. It's good to hear from people who know but are not exclusively biased towards it.I like to hear the bad with the good. Yello...what about that IWB loop? Oh, and just an FYI on the subject of the griffe...finally found a griffe trainer on szabo's site. I think it was in the "accessories" section.
