Cool. At least they have one. When I get mine, and start learning (may have to start with videos at first) I definatley want a "live" blade and a "don't kill myself" one.

I was wondering what those were when I saw you collection.

Yeah, let me know about the video. Like I said, I'll send you a Stinger if you want.

Those were the videos I was talking about with you on the phone

I've got all four. I felt that they were good at covering the advanced techniques, but they could've spent more time covering the basics, like footwork. I really liked those videos, but I have a pretty good martial arts background

You might also want to look into the videos on the karambit.com homepage. The videos are taught by Steve Tarani, my friend Michelle's instructor. He really covers the basics well in those videos. I used to have them, but I sold them

    Fun with Google:

Go to http://www.google.com and type the words: "Strider Emerson Karambit"

You'll never believe what comes up on the first page of results...

    The next-gen Inovas are out.

    Check here: Inova Site

The XO is out. Looks like an X5, but is a 1W LS LED with a "Surefire-Style" reflector.

Prometheus seems a little ticked that Inova is only hooking up The Discovery Channel store at first..

Sorry, I've been studying and doing my taxes all weekend. Plus I spend about three hours a night talking on the phone with my girlfriend so I sleep until about 11AM

Delta, you get any new toys?

    My wish list:

The probable first one (may try 2..I am working on some CC ideas for 2 griffs or hideaways):

When the $ comes rolling in (whenever the heck that is) Sooner if I get some videos.

I think Inova will catch up to Surefire at some point. They are already tougher IMO. They just need to be brighter.

When I have money and time:

I don't know...I DO like your Karambits and think they are wicked knives, but I really like the LaGriffes and the Hideaways...smaller, faster, and more ways to carry IMO. Although I would like to learn both as soon as I have an opportunity.

Here's a question I was about to post on USN. Ever see or know of a training video that focuses on the 'Griffe?? I know there is a Hideaway one.

I'm not aware of any videos for the La Griffe, but SDF would be the place to look

Hideaways and La Griffes are cool and all, but if you really need to get the work done, I'd go with a full sized knife. Either a Karambit or a tanto style knife would be the way to go if you really wanted to take out multiple attackers. And the Karambit only if you knew what you were doing

The Inovas are ver promising. However, I was comparing the light output of my X5 to my L4, and Inova has a lot to do in the brightness department. One thing is for sure, though, Inova's price point is a lot better

Sorry, but I won't be able to get that thing out to you this week. I was swamped all weekend and didn't get a chance to set things up.

I think with the new reflector designs and the LS LED's, we'll see a big increase in brightness with the Inovas

Am I Imagining this, or are those Strider karambits sharpened on both sides??

So how you liking that Surefire L4? Are they everything they claim to be?

Sorry about the other day, Delta. I've had a bad case of atypical strep all week and my fever spiked to 104.5 that night.

Yeah, those Striders are sharpened on both sides. You can also order them single edged, but I like mine double and there isn't any explicit law banning them in NYC

The L4 is a great flashlight. Played with my friends e2e the other day, and it's about the same as far as brightness goes, but the e2e has more throw. And considering you can get the e2e for about $60 less, it's not a bad deal (although you'll need to change bulbs every once in awhile)

If you're still looking for the e2D, Plaza Cultery still has one in stock. Mine is here

    Yello,

Have any experience or advice about this Kerambit? It's a non-metallic version of the Kerambit.

Yeah, I've read about that one. It's good for all of two cuts, then it's dull. I've heard that it gets dull even if you don't use it and leave it sitting around (I'm not sure how anyone would know if it's not dull out of the box if they've never used it)

It's good depending on what you want to use it for. If you're looking for a knife for every day carry, something you might occassionally open an envelope or box with, go for the metal one.

If you're looking to shank someone in a nightclub where there's a metal detector, and toss it, go with the polymer knife.

I figured it wasn't that great. Sounds kinda like a use once and throw away. I think I'll just save and buy a metal one.
