Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared I read yesterday that the L4 (I believe) has the same lumens output as a 6P. If so, thats pretty impressive. And yeah, those Inovas were cool, because they are now using Luxeon Star LED's which are WAAAY brighter.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared I see now...said the blind man....I didn't like the pic of one of these you posted earier, but I do like these! And best of all, this last pic.. Yup, Yup! This is nice too...really shows off the "Velociraptor" effect... Too bad these are a good chunk of money...the La Griffe would be more easily attainable.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Yeah, they're called Hideaways. Frontsight makes them. They're about $140 each. They have knifemakers make them for her and she sells them. Strider is one of the makers. They're kinda cool because they're custom made for your fingers
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared No this one is a little diff. The handle is shorter so it'll fit my hand a bit better, and blade is a little longer. I'm going to sell my old Strider Karambit
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Well...all I know is, when I held that one the other day, it did NOT feel right or comforable in my hand. Here is my next knife probably. Small, but very nice IMO. I had the older style. 'sides...I need one I can use as a utility knife as well. Next will be this:
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared That's why I'm getting rid of the old Strider. I can't hold it right. The new one has a much shorter handle.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Nah, the Hideaway is nice, but I don't think it's worth the $140 for a backup knife. I bought a La Griffe the other day for $54 that I'm going to put a loop on and put in my waistband for backup.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Btw, it looks like the La Griffe you have in that pic is a pre-2002 model. The sheaths on the newer ones are a lot more secure
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared It's a house knife. I wouldn't carry that one around. It's too big (for what it is) and it's too menacing looking. I want the emerson one. I take it thats what you got? Your thoughts on the Spyderco Native III? Did you see the link I posted at SDF where Fred P rated the SN3?? It's a ggod knife you can get away with carrying.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared There are a lot of knives that size. I'll be honest with you, I'm not a big fan of the Spyderco's, but they make a nice knife for the price point. If I were going to carry a knife that small, I'd go with the Mini CQC7: But it'll run you about $100. I have one, it's a nice knife.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared I have had many Spyderco's, and while they may not be as "exotic" as say...emersons, Striders, and MODs, they are a damn good knife....like you said, on the price point. You got any "keychain toys"?? (I'm gonna order that Stinger and give it a whirl) Great page on the stinger I know it ain't up your alley, but I like the idea of "unassuming but mean" weapons.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared I pull my keys out of my pockets so many times a day I hate to put something even bigger on the chain. I used to have a kubaton on it, but it got on my nerves. I did manage to get my hands on this credit card knife this weekend for an outstanding price: It's made out of titanium, custom made, and very VERY hard to find.
Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared I bought it off someone on the knife forums, and it was 40, shipped The guys there are kinda pissed at me because I got it before them!
Delta and Yello's Bad A$$ Thread: Formerly known as: Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Holy Crap! I am pathetic! As much as I used to enjoy selling phones, it was not very physically demanding. Sitting/Standing in one place all day and then going home to lay on the couch with the girlfriend is not condusive to being very manly. I vowed to start working out as soon as it got warm, and now it's warm. So I worked out. It was enough to make me wanna cry. (But I didn't!) I hit positive/negative muscle failure after 60 pushups. Was barely around the block when the legs got tight. Did better on the crunches though. Had a hard time remembering good exercises. All in all, pretty emabarrassing. SO... Every day now I'll be doing something. I need to go to a gym or something. I am low on dough so I gotta be cheap for now, but there will be $$$ soon enough. Yello: Looking at a Krav Maga class in Dublin. Haven't found anything else quite yet, but I'm not interested in traditional. Martial Arts. I just want something that will give a good workout, and if I learn a new way to break a rib, so much the better. Either which way, I'll be getting fit one way or the other. By April, I will be in a better place! I quit smoking because I wanted to be healthier and not stink. This is the next step. I mistankenly thought I was in better shape because I am not a lard-a$$. Wrong! Any good suggestions? At the very least I'll pay the gym membership and use the free trainer. Once I am off and running I won't need someone standing over me. My girlfriend made the remark: "You're not 18 in boot camp anymore, you're gonna be 31 in 3 days" BS!! Gonna start with the timer on my watch set to 60 minutes...and drop and do 20 every hour on the hour.
Delta and Yello's Bad A$$ Thread: Formerly known as: Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Krav Maga is considered one of the more deadly styles, along with Kali which I'm currently studying. If you really want to get in shape, you can do my calisthenic workout: Three miles of running Three sets of 50 push ups Three sets of 50 crunches Three sets of 50 no weight squats Duck walks (look it up on the web) Three sets of 25 snake push ups Three sets of static bridge for the abs (30 seconds each) 30 Second breaks in between each set You'll be ripped in no time. Calistenics are cool because they enhance your natural agility, but weights make you HUGE!!! I just deadlifted 405lbs today, so I'm going to lie down now...
Delta and Yello's Bad A$$ Thread: Formerly known as: Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared Who keeps changing the names of the threads??? Delta, you get that link to work?
Delta and Yello's Bad A$$ Thread: Formerly known as: Wonderfully Dangerous Gadgets/ Being Prepared I'll try that workout. Don't think the running thing is going to work for me though. My knees aren't that great (which I can't understand since I never injured them) ...maybe 10 year of going up and down ladders on ships? I'll do what I can. Haven't got the prices on the Krav Maga yet. They do Cardio Kickboxing (unlimited sessions) for $29 a week. (thats what my girlfriend wants to do.) Also looking into what the gyms have to offer. Maybe a month or so of hard exercise and than take the Krav Maga??
