wow..sad ending to a once great company. this proves that if your not growing your dieing as a company. trying to "maintain" is not a strategy.

Motorola is an institution in wireless back to the original mobile phone(operator assisted on 35 MHz). I hope that it survives as an American brand. Even if the phone manufacturing end is outsourced. Why wouldn't Google buy it? That would give them the network building and handset making needed after the auction.
Google could although it seems Google wants to stay an intangable, non hardware company. Dell and others are hardware companies. Perhaps Motorola will spin it off to "Motorola wireless" or something like that with new money ( IPO) Who knows? This is a must see for Mobile Phone history types. Re: DellOROLA or NORTELOROLLA Motorola's seems to be getting rid of things on a pretty regular basis. I wonder what will be left if they cannot turn around the handset unit. The deal with Nortel is probably a good one. Carrier consolidation will put pressure on suppliers to consolidate or die.
