Don't know if this was only in iOS. Facebook admitted that their app was cycling and burning battery power. FB was alway the top app in terms of battery usage. They fixed it in the last weeks and for me I gained 2 hours of extra predicted battery life. FB dropped from 1st place to 7th. (15% to 7%) Now at 6hrs at 48% battery left. Do it! I have noticed better battery life in my iPhone 5, but I didn't know the reason. Thanks for the info.
I was telling a friend about a year ago that I dropped out of Facebook. After a few years it dawned on me that you actually need to have friends that find your life interesting enough to want to follow you. Although I have friends, none were that interested in the "life and times" of a 60+ year old dude. ("Lets see here, today I went to the doctors, again!")
This is why I use an app called Friendly, which includes private messaging that Facebook spun off into a separate app. I can't stand the native FB app. Won't use it.
I use FB for ranting about what happens in the world mostly, not to share my life. I remember how horrible it was that I used to prefer using the web browser. But they've made great improvements to the app over the years.
When my mother was alive, she was the hub for all stories, great and small about our own extended family. When I'd visit her, I would see photos of distant family newborns and such. Since her passing, Facebook has served that same purpose well. Sometimes you just need to see a photo or sentence about a relative or even friend, without the need for a long awkward telephone call or direct email. That little connection is possible and I feel more connected to family than before as the information exchange is more frequent and voluminous. So when we do talk there is lots to talk about, not just small talk. FB serves me well. And not very different than WA here as we post photos and where we are posting from, No? ( example: I just got a new phone!!! Or I can't find a decent upgrade. ) So is WA really that different? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't see the connection. Perhaps you misinterpreted what I wrote. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
