AgentHibby, Now you got me thinking how I did like that phone. I was so eager to get into digital. Now I only wished that that 252 was digital. So simple and durable. I still have it. Of course I don't use it anymore. I now want to hear from everyone else on how they liked or disliked their dear old 252.
I know somebody that still uses one. They don't see any reason to get a new phone yet. The few times that I had to use it, it worked well and was easy to use.
It was great. It is not my first phone. I have Cellular Service since 1993. Phones I've had. 1. Motorola Bag Phone ( Took it to Saudi Arabia) 2. Another Motorola Bag Phone 3. Motorola DPC 650 4. Nokia 252 5. Nokia 5185i 6. Nokia 3585i After using my bulky Motorola that had a battery life of about 3 hours, I got into that 252 that had a battery life of 24 hrs and could fit into my pocket. And the text was written in a language that I could understand.
My aunt got cellular serivce thru US West Cellular, then Airtouch now Verizon, back in 1993 I think? She got one right when the Cell phones cause brain tumors. Reason was she thought wireless plans would be cheaper due to people not buying. In 1996 she went with US Cellular and has been there since.
I never carried that phone, but I sold a bunch of them via United States Cellular..ur..um... now know as US Cellular , just in case your confused
Let's see... I've had the Nokia 5170i Samsung SCH-N150 Motorola i58sr (I think :dunno: ) Audiovox CDM-8500 And I currently have the Motorola V600 and I bought a SE T68i off eBay today for a back-up.
I had a 252 once, about 1997 (my first cell phone was a Panasonic candy bar type from Contel Cellular of California in the summer of 1995 (later became GTE, now Verizon), good little phone, it was a EBH-something I think) with US Cellular, and while it was a good phone for it's time, I don't miss it. If you want a phone that was really durable, Moto Micro-Tac was it, I knew some people that had ran over it with their pickup, and the thing still worked!
Think I still have the 252 but never used it. I should take a pic of that and a Nokia 100 and post it.
I have a Nokia 252 and I still use it! I'm only 13 and my parents won't buy me a newer cell phone cause they think the on i have is good enough. It works great around where I live. The only thing is I need to get a new battery(it only lasts for 3 hours ) Besides from the fact it's analog and u can't dwnload ringers it's a pretty easy to use durable phone.
I still have the 252 but am strongly thinking of getting rid of it. I've had no problems for years but for the last month or so am getting a "no service" message. Never got this before. Any ideas?
