What exactly is dct3 and dct4 referring to? Just differences in firmware??

I was looking at a dongle- which I guess is an unlocking program?? It was

only for DCT4 phones, and information pages said the IMEI of the phone

should be in the format of no spaces, dashes, or other characters [ie: 12345,

    instead of, 1234/00/].

Also had something of MCC+MNC; GD1 and GD2

Do dongles generate more correct codes with less errors than that of the

    internet based generators?

Dongle is a cable that connects the phone to a hardware flasher/unlocker.

DCT3, DCT4 & BB5 refer to different generations of Nokia phone's hardware. I'm sure you can find the full lists somewhere.

Dongles allow "direct input" of the codes into the phone, so the unlock attempt counter doesn't come into play.

    ahh i see.

So a dongle only plugs into those expensive flasher boxes?

I have been looking at unlocking software, but all I have been able to find is things of that sort.

I was looking for a USB cable and software to unlock nokias, but I can't find anything. Many places sell the cable, but what good is the cable without software??

For most Nokias prior to the BB5 generation you would need a separate hardware device, BB5 can be accessed with the aid of a USB cable and software, but all the phones you were asking about so far have been of prior generations. I personally use the J.A.F. hardware, but the cheapest configuration (before cables) is still around $150.
