As y'all all probably know we'll be changing the time this Sunday going back to standard time.

Every year when the time changes the only way I can get the new time on my phone other than to manually adjust it is to power down my phone and re-power it. I have Nokia phones.

Is this necessary on all phones or just Nokia?

I was under impression that the auto update was more a function of the provider than the handset, provided ofcourse the handset is set to "auto update". As to your original question, my Nokia 6230, and 6682 both changed automatically, so I hope the 6131 also changes on Sunday morning.

PS: My Verizon phones LG 6000 & 7000 both have changed automatcally also.

WG. I cannot quite gurantee that mine was perfectly on time since I really wasn't up and watching my cell phone at 2:00 am :D . It had changed time when I looked at it this morning.

i wonder how often they poll the tower's clock system, after all I was on the border of EST and CST in Georgia and my phone went nuts going back and forth, the phone being the w600i.

Oh yeah it's also important to add, my 8125/HTC Wizard updated at 2am on the dot.

Some handsets have the setting "Confirm first." My recent Nokias have this setting. It's usually not a good setting since it can ask for confirmation at any time. Since it's usually accurate within five seconds of what I get from WWV in Colorado I let the phone update automatically without any further intervention (other than forcing update by doing a re-boot of the phone if necessary as was the case this morning.)

It is now 8 pm and my Verizon phone has still not updated. I tried doing it manually, but didn't want to turn off auto-update, sure enough, it went straight back to the old time. Come on Verizon, how hard is it to set your computers to switch automatically? Don't know if this is a regular problem for them, didn't have the service this spring.

Just noticed the previous post about turning the phone off and back on, sure enough, that worked. Feel silly now.

Since I'm the youngin, I was up at the precise time my phone changed. And it went from 1:59 to 1:00am.

So it was definitely right on time.

<sigh> some people have all the luck and have exciting lives. Me I spend my time watching paint dry and keeping track of the grass growth on the lawn. :)

Out of our 4 phones, 2 updated automatically & 2 I had to manually change. The V220 & 540 updated & the T-721 & V635 didn't. The only one that's not branded is the V635 & if that was the only one that didn't I could understand a possibility of why it didn't.
    It was wierd.

Oh no...don't shut the phone down...! It might not know how to restart!:browani:

I am just joking with you...seriously sometimes I forget that some people never shut their phones off. I was seriously scarred for life when I found out my ex boss never shut his phone off and would talk to people while he was sitting on the toilet. EeeeWWWWW! He was obsessive!

Mine is off usually unless I go out or remember to turn it on during the day., but I'm just prepaid so it's not like it matters.

the quick answer to the question is could be either... some carriers support the time function... others do not...as with the phones as well...I do know that Cingular and former att do upport the service and if your phone has the auto update enable it... Tmobile may not have this function...

I had a friend like that once. I would never use his cordless phone, because he would take it into the bathroom with him.
