I will be going to Anchorage for a week and am trying to locate some sort of data connection while I'm up there (aside from dial up). I know ACS has EVDO and contacted them about getting their service, unfortunately they wanted over five hundred bucks for the PCMCIA card, which if you asked me is a touch on the high side!

Does anybody have any any ideas of what I might try? I currently have service with Sprint, but I don't believe they have any data roaming agreements up there.

I can sign up with another carrier if needed, but I haven't found any info on anyone who has any data coverage (even data roaming) once I get to Anchorage.

It does not need to be EVDO speed, 1x would be fine as well.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

I have just recetly heard about this ridiculous charge for a data card on another forum; it's ridiculous that they want to charge you that much. I honestly don't know whether or not Sprint has DATA roaming with ACS or not, but it does
Look like Verizon has DATA roaming up in the Anchorage Area:
