-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I recently statred using a new LG VX 6100 from Verizon. I purchased a Third party Data cable for the VX 6100, and installed the drivers that came with it. The phone shows up in device manager under "modems" and also LG CDMA USB modem diagnostic serial port drivers (WDM)(Com3) is shown under ports. In the USB contollers section I see LG USB Composite Device. Using a terminal program I can dial the phone. When I set up Bitpim I did it for the VX 6100 and have tried both Com3 and Com4 under settings. When I tell Bitpim to detect the phone I get the message "no phone detected" What follows is the log for this action 13:05:50.759 coms:[{'available': True, 'driverdate': (2001, 7, 1), 'description': 'Communications Port (COM1)', 'driverprovider': 'Microsoft', 'driverversion': '5.1.2600.0', 'hardwareinstance': 'ACPI\\PNP0501\\1', 'driverdescription': 'Communications Port', 'active': True, 'class': 'serial', 'name': 'COM1'}, {'available': True, 'driverdate': (2001, 7, 1), 'description': 'Communications Port (COM2)', 'driverprovider': 'Microsoft', 'driverversion': '5.1.2600.0', 'hardwareinstance': 'ACPI\\PNP0501\\2', 'driverdescription': 'Communications Port', 'active': True, 'class': 'serial', 'name': 'COM2'}, {'available': True, 'driverdate': (2002, 10, 15), 'description': 'LG CDMA USB Modem Diagnostic Serial Port Drivers (WDM) (COM3)', 'driverprovider': 'LG Electronics Inc.', 'driverversion': '3.35.0.600', 'hardwareinstance': 'USB\\VID_1004&PID_6000&MI_02\\6&15313397&0&2_02', 'driverdescription': 'LG CDMA USB Modem Diagnostic Serial Port Drivers (WDM)', 'active': True, 'class': 'serial', 'name': 'COM3'}, {'available': True, 'driverdate': (2002, 10, 15), 'description': 'LG CDMA USB Modem', 'driverprovider': 'LG Electronics Inc.', 'driverversion': '3.35.0.600', 'hardwareinstance': 'USB\\VID_1004&PID_6000&MI_00\\6&15313397&0&2_00', 'driverdescription': 'LG CDMA USB Modem', 'active': True, 'class': 'modem', 'name': 'COM4'}] 13:05:50.769 Available ports: ['COM1', 'COM2', 'COM3', 'COM4'] 13:05:50.769 Available modem ports: ['COM4'] 13:05:50.868 Gathering data on port: COM4 13:05:50.868 COM4: Opening port COM4, 115200 baud, timeout 1.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0 13:05:50.868 COM4: Open of comm port suceeded 13:05:50.878 Done on port: COM4 13:05:50.878 Checking for model: LG-TM520 13:05:50.878 Checking for model: LG-VX10 13:05:50.878 Checking for model: LG-VX4400 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: LG-VX4500 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: LG-VX4600 (Telus Mobility) 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: LG-VX6000 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: LG-VX6100 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: LG-VX7000 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: LG-VX8000 (Verizon Wireless) 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: MM-7400 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: Other CDMA phone 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: PM-8200 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: RL-4920 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: SCH-A310 13:05:50.888 Likely ports:[] 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: SCH-A650 13:05:50.888 Likely ports:[] 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: SCH-A670 13:05:50.888 Likely ports:[] 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: SCP-4900 13:05:50.888 Checking for model: SCP-5300 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SCP-5400 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SCP-5500 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SCP-7200 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SCP-7300 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SCP-8100 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SCP-8100 (Bell Mobility) 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SK6100 (Pelephone) 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SPH-A460 13:05:50.898 Checking for model: SPH-A620 (VGA1000) After this a message pops up saying "No Phone Detected/Recognized" When I check the protocol log it seems that some data is getting to Bitpim such as the Software version, etc. Please see below 13:10:27.746 coms:[{'available': True, 'driverdate': (2001, 7, 1), 'description': 'Communications Port (COM1)', 'driverprovider': 'Microsoft', 'driverversion': '5.1.2600.0', 'hardwareinstance': 'ACPI\\PNP0501\\1', 'driverdescription': 'Communications Port', 'active': True, 'class': 'serial', 'name': 'COM1'}, {'available': True, 'driverdate': (2001, 7, 1), 'description': 'Communications Port (COM2)', 'driverprovider': 'Microsoft', 'driverversion': '5.1.2600.0', 'hardwareinstance': 'ACPI\\PNP0501\\2', 'driverdescription': 'Communications Port', 'active': True, 'class': 'serial', 'name': 'COM2'}, {'available': True, 'driverdate': (2002, 10, 15), 'description': 'LG CDMA USB Modem Diagnostic Serial Port Drivers (WDM) (COM3)', 'driverprovider': 'LG Electronics Inc.', 'driverversion': '3.35.0.600', 'hardwareinstance': 'USB\\VID_1004&PID_6000&MI_02\\6&15313397&0&2_02', 'driverdescription': 'LG CDMA USB Modem Diagnostic Serial Port Drivers (WDM)', 'active': True, 'class': 'serial', 'name': 'COM3'}, {'available': True, 'driverdate': (2002, 10, 15), 'description': 'LG CDMA USB Modem', 'driverprovider': 'LG Electronics Inc.', 'driverversion': '3.35.0.600', 'hardwareinstance': 'USB\\VID_1004&PID_6000&MI_00\\6&15313397&0&2_00', 'driverdescription': 'LG CDMA USB Modem', 'active': True, 'class': 'modem', 'name': 'COM4'}] 13:10:27.756 Available ports: ['COM1', 'COM2', 'COM3', 'COM4'] 13:10:27.756 Available modem ports: ['COM4'] 13:10:27.857 Gathering data on port: COM4 13:10:27.857 COM4: Opening port COM4, 115200 baud, timeout 1.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0 13:10:27.857 COM4: Open of comm port suceeded 13:10:27.857 COM4: Writing Data - Is it possible I have a faulty cable? Any thoughts or ideas would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks
Got it figured out and everything working with Bitpim. Autodetect function for LG phones is not working at present in Bitpim.
Glad you figured it out, I use bitpim myself with my lg vx 6000 and it was a pain to get going at first, but now it works just fine.
Hi,Do you have the cd(that has the drivers for data cable)? You have to install the drivers, then hook up cable and the phone should be working. Regards,Jim
