I hope tons were left out
Well, it looks like they changed the entire site for the coverage map. Some on howard forums say that its easier to read.
I, on the other hand, cant even get them to load.
They load for me and so far I like them.
Ok, i got them to load. It's basically the same maps, minus the crapp dotted areas where coverage was 'unknown'
True but now we have the ability to see when the maps were last updated and they also changed the tower markers from bullseyes to actual tower symbols.
I still think they inadvertently left out a bunch of new towers in the LA area. All that they show is coming soon towers even though a bunch of new ones have gone live in the past 3 months that never made it on there.
well who cares...........fresh maps are always good.........recent is great!!!!!!
kinda had to say that cuz i compulsively update things and checking out updated coverage maps is exciting.........its like asking so whats been happening in the past few months....like asking Sprint: "Hey! How've you been???"
On an unrelated note, I saw that ATT FINALLY updated their maps today. They are still way off, but at least there are more moderage and poor areas now.
are they just more detailed now??? cuz even finding out that AT&T is being honest on their maps is a good thing.............if a company were to simply update coverage maps to provide more accurate and detailed coverage and not add a single new tower......i would be happy with that company cuz at least I know that they're telling me the truth
Well according to the maps there was an update yesterday (11/28) but I don't see anything different. They still haven't loaded the recently added towers in the LA market and still only show the coming soon towers. I also don't see anything different on the green coverage areas. The maps for LA have not changed one bit. Has anyone noticed anything different anywhere else?
I don't see any changes either
No changes out here along the river. I will be happy when we are finally fully covered by EVDO.
It now says 'updated 11/30' but once again I don't see any changes. Weird.
Maybe that's the updates they did, none since the last one was done?
Not sure what you mean by that but the last major changed happened on 11/16. Then on 11/28 they supposedly updated it again although nobody saw any changes. Now on 11/30 it shows as an update but once again no changes. So I'm just wondering why they changed the updated dated again even though no visible changes were made.
Maybe any time they do anything to the maps that updated date changes? Could be as simple as changing a spelling error or something like that.
they would spell something wrong............and i dont blame them.........for example....i live in Reading, Pennsylvania but phonetically it should be Redding..........and you have no idea how many different companies like telephone prompts pronounce it reading.........its funny
Just because nobody on this board who closely watches the maps saw any changes, does not mean that no changes were made. It may have been adding a few "New cell sites" in an area or changing the coverage estimations somewhere.
like i've said before...........if a company updates their maps like monthly......but inly adds new sites every three months and the other two months is just making the coverage more accurate..........i would prefer that company over anyone else
Certainly possible but unlikely. When they do updates they pretty much update all of the markets at the same time. It's been their pattern since day 1.
Well, something has to change unless someone just goes in and changes the "updated" date every few days or whatever.
Each time they update it I save screenshots of the western markets (San Diego, LA, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Reno, bay area and central valley CA). Then when they do another update I can compare and see what changed. Nothing has changed with the past 2 updates. If nothing's changed in all of these areas I doubt they've changed anywhere else either.
I suppose they could have done something on the IDEN maps because I rarely check those.
yeah but is the last updated field on the site there something that is server related and updates itself with each map update or is that something that they change manually cuz i hardly believe they would change that manually if all they were doing is background stuff
Well once again it shows a new update (12/6/07) but once again no visible changes made. Weird.
Updated again on the 14th. It looks like there is more EVDO in lower NY
I do like what they have been doing with their maps.
yes i just recently saw the new design and i like it very much.......its a little complex but its not any better than everyone else's
I don't see any changes for the 12/14 update. Maybe these updates are EV-DO related because the regular coverage maps and towers added functions are still the same.
Ok a 12/17 update and I finally see that they have done something for sure! They've changed the CDMA RF maps a little to reflect some new cell sites added and I've even noticed a few areas that are more conservative with the dark green (best) areas.
A few small areas in Vermont are marked as EV-DO now. I haven't gotten the chance to confirm the coverage, but previously Sprint didn't show any ED-DO in Vermont. That is definitely a change.
Does Sprint put every new site on the maps? I have full voice coverage in along a stretch of road where I used to have only mediocre coverage but the maps don't show a recently added site.
No they don't show every new site they add. I can name at least 8 or 10 new sites in LA that went on in the past 6 months that never made it on the maps as either a new or future site. So no it's not always going to show every single site. It does show most of them though.
Seems as though they've updated the maps again as of the 17th. I can't really see anything that they've done around my area, except maybe one tower that may have went online, but I'm not sure if it's already been online before this update or if it is new.
