First off, I got my V551 with At&t right before the merger (week before christmas). Is this phone unlocked? And if it isnt, would Cingular be able to unlock it? Secondly, has anyone ever succesfully gotten dial-up networking to work b/w the v551 and d-link's DBT-120 bluetooth adaptor? The phone and computer are paired (i can use the file transfer for sure), but it never dials correctly. I e-mailed the morons over at d-link and their only suggestion other than reboot everything was to "move the phone closer to the bluetooth adaptor". Any help is appreciated
It's probably locked. I don't think Cingular will, but you could try calling and see. On your second question I don't know, I never messed with DUN on a cell.
If you bought a V551 from AT&T in December then it should be locked, probably to Cingular if they let you buy a V551 from AT&T because the V551 is a Cingular exclusive in the US. It is marketed in other countries under a different model # (The V555 I think). Cingular probably won't unlock it for you, but a small independent cell phone dealer would probably be very happy to do this for you for a small fee. As far as the DUN goes I have never tried that w/ my V551, If I used my phone as an internet connection I would add data to my plan and use the fast EDGE network through the phone and Bluetooth. It would be like having a wireless broadband connection.
your phone is deffinatly locked for only at&t. As far as your bluetooth adapter buy the kensington instead of d-link
