From my experience Uniden phones have been the best cordless phones for me. I have 2 in the house and other then having to replace the batteries on both of them after a while they have been fine phones.

I'd AVOID AT&T and Panasonic cordless phones. They are crap.

What happen to cordless phones when Lucent Techonolgies spun off [IMG]?? Bell Labs went from good to awful in home phones and equipment.
From 1992-1997 we had the same answering maching. It died so my family bought a new answering maching/cordless phone right away one it lasted 10 months and died (more like 5 months when it started to go bad). For christmas of 1997 we got an off brand that answering maching/cordless lasted until 2002. now a Bell South Phone in parents house.

My parents use a GE phone/cordless combo and it's doing ok after 2 years. The volume up/down buttons stick a bit though [IMG] and my parents are always looking for the cordless since my youngest brother steals it [IMG]. But they still have the regular GE phone which doubles as the base station. The frequency might also make a difference. 2.4 Ghz phones normally work better than 900 Mhz phones.

I haven't seen a proper Motorola cordless phone in years. I thought they got out of that market.

I can testify that Uniden cordless phones work out well. I have one that is 6 years old. Still going strong.

I always wondered about the Motorola phones? They've been popping up in CompUSA. My parents have a panasonic and I admit that they're not very good. I still have the first sony 900mhz (SPP-ER1) cordless that they came out with back in 95. Paid something like $280. from the Wiz. Have had to change the battery three times and it still works like a champ.

i've seen them in the larger electronic stores such as BestBuy and Fyi's Electronic Wearhouse. they had a 5.8 ghz model before, but it didnt look as sweet at the 2.4 ghz ones.
