ok, so my friend dropped her uninsured cingular phone in the snow and now it is waterlodged and keeps shutting off on her. she wants to know if she could buy a gophone and just stick her current post-paid contracted sim card into it? would that work?

Yes it would. As long as her SIM is a Cingular SIM (not former ATTW) it's no problem. ;)

i've tried this myself, which my own SIM card, and it works.

it is a very good solution for people who lose or break or etc their phone and they need one right now, without having to pay $200+ for a new phone
