OMG! I'll quote Britney Spears, and say, "Opps, I did it again."

I'll have to choose between two pickups, Ford Ranger and F250--and two handsets, HTC 8925 Tilt and Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. I know the Tilt has two antenna connectors on the back, one for GPS receive and one for two way communications.

COtech - Did you get this installed in a vehicle yet? If so, can you post some pictures?

It would be nice for the winner to give us a detailed review of the amplifier install and it's performance. So people might see how well our product works and substantiate our claims . I have even called the winner just to follow up and everything was installed properly and working as advertised . But he told me he is very busy and simply does not have time to do so . He informed me that he has used the system and it worked as advertised but it would be nice for all of you to hear that from him.

This will be a multi-part review, description and operation.

This is a review of the Maximum Signal 850/1900 MHz 6 way Wireless Mobile Amplifier (FCC ID: XZZ-Traveler). It was supplied by user Maximum Signal.

The Wireless Amplifier is about the size of a hockey puck, and has two TNC Female connectors for antennas on opposite sides of its white case (3.5”x3.5”x1.0”). One connects to an inside antenna, and the other to an outside antenna. There are three LEDs, labeled “Hiband Fault”, “Low Band Fault”, and “On/Off”. A micro USB-B connector, to which the supplied 12 Vdc accessory cord attaches, supplies the required current to operate.

The supplied inside antenna is a flat “patch” style, and the directions must be followed to orient the correct side to face into the vehicle cabin. Adhesive strips of Velcro(tm) (hook and loop) on the vehicle interior wall mounting side allow the removal and replacement of the inside antenna as needed. Ten feet of cable appearing to be RG-174 (50 ohm impedance) allows routing away from feet and pedals on its way to the “Device Int Ant” connector.

Several models of external antennas are possible, such as “glass mount adhesive” style. Since I have two pickup trucks (Ford Ranger and F250), a magnet-mount was recommended and supplied. It comes with a magnet-base with ten feet of cable appearing to be RG-58 (50 ohm impedance); the phased vertical screws onto the base, overall height is just under a foot.

I have placed the inside antenna on the lower left wall, just aft of the parking brake pedal in the F250. The outside antenna is on the cab roof halfway between the front and back edges, and about 18” from the right edge of the roof. I brought the cable in through the window.

I let the Amplifier rest on the floor to the right of the transmission hump; the power cord reaches it from the 12V accessory jack.

Since I live in Memphis, a region of good signal, I was not able to test it immediately. I planned a trip to Monroe, LA with a detour through known low signal areas in west central Mississippi.. Details in my next entry. Photos of the hardware may be attached later, once I find them in my phone's memory.
