Maximum Signal ... I forgot to ask about cell phone reception. The cell signal in our home is usually weak. My husband's office is here and many of his calls come in on his cell. Will the ultimate hotspot package boost the cell reception, or do we need additional equipment for this? If so, what else would we need? Thanks.

Sign me up for that bad boy! I was looking to buy a Cradle Point a few months back, but I no longer have that job that included the 595U data card, but I do use my LG9100 tethered now for data acces. Does this support "phone as modem" connections via USB cable, or does it only support data cards? By the way, thanks for another great donation Maximum Signal.

We have already installed the new firmware on the routers we are shipping now . So you do noy have to worry about that.

Sorry but they do not support tethering to handsets at this time.

We sell a sheilded splitter now that you can add to the package so the amplifier can do 2 devices connected at once to it .

The router does not enhance cellular signal .

Oh well, I guess I'll have to get a data card then :browani: . It costs the same per month, I just figured I'd add it to one of my phones for now instead of getting a 3rd devise to carry around.

Since my service is with Alltel and the Cyfre router has software written by Alltel techs (and alltel is also selling this product), seems like the cyfre router is just what I need!

Maximum Signal.... You mentioned in a previous post that this cyfre router has a removable antenna so that you could purchase a more power antenna (and the cradlepoint antenna is not removable). What would a more powerful antenna do? Increase the signal strength? Increase the distance of service through out the house? Does the ultimate hotspot package include a more powerful antenna? Thanks for your help. I'm just trying to understand how the routers, antennas, and amplifiers work.

One more question. You said with the shielded splitter the amplifier can connect 2 devices at the same time (I was inquiring about increasing cell phone signal strength). How does this work? The cell phone doesn't have to have a physical connection of any kind does it? Sorry, that was 2 questions, and I'll probably have more. Thanks.

The cell phone has to be physically connected to the splitter with an adapter cable, The amplifier in the kit is a direct connect amplifier and a router cannot increase cellular reception .[QUOTE=betc;517401]One more question. a stronger antenna would extend coverage are if needed . It has a SMA connecter which is standard for most 802.11g routers. Hawking( WWW.Gohawking.com ) makes high power antennas if you need one.

If I understand correctly, the ultimate hotspot (with the cyfre router) will solve my need of connecting my desk top, my husband's office computer, and a laptop all by sharing the ec228 data card. The antennas and amplifier with the kit will help with the signal. I can then take this portable package to a beach house (where signal is weak) and be able to connect to the internet. Is this right so far? If my husband wants to improve cell phone reception in his office, is there any wireless product that would handle this? I know he will not want to connect his cell phone to anything. Could this also be portable (to take to beach house)? And I assume I do not need the splitter if my husband would not be willing to physically connect his phone. Is this correct? Thanks for your help.

The splitter is only needed with the direct connect amplifier if you want to do 2 devices at once

I would definitely use this while I'm on the go in my car. I expect to be doing a lot of traveling and a little internet for the passengers doesn't hurt. :)

Hi. I' m a newbie and don't even know if this is how to post to this thread. So please direct me to the proper MO if I'm way off here. I'm currently using dialup, no cable or dsl in the sticks so I'm looking at wireless broad band. I would be using the router to connect an old desktop( no wifi) to a laptop that has wifi. My question is will this router be plug and play for the old desk top? Thank you for your help. J.P.

Thanks for your reply and site. I'm looking at version as the service provider. We have Altel cell phones and with the evdo available to us we still only get 2 bars of signial. So do you think we would need an outside antenna? If so which one would you reccommend? Thank you for your help. J.P.

If you look up a few post, Maximum Signal (who's sponsoring this contest) posted some links to signal boosters replying to someone who had the same problem as you do. Hope everything works out for you.

Thanks I hope so also. The thing that concerns me about trying an out side antenna is I have no way to get the cable to where the computer is so are there outside antennas that could mount on say a window that would work with tis router? Also doeses this router have an automatic reconnect if the signal is dropped? Thank you. J.P.

I would think the router uses an AC adapter and more than likely does have a reconnect feature. As for the anntenas, I never setup a signal booster myself, but from what I've read and if I read the post right, you can setup an antenna outside and run some cable to the signal booster box. You can't get any cell repection from the router as it throughs a 802.11 signal and not a cell phone. I would say try PMing Maximum Signal and ask him or try posting a thread and see what responses you get from there. I'm not good with signal boosting, but I can try and point you in the right way :D

You do not connect an antenna to the router . The antenna you connect to the 3G device you insert in the router. The router is not an amplifier. It takes 3G signal and redistibutes as 802.11g so multiple computer can use the single 3G device. It does not operates on batteries and requires a 110 volt power source. If you are in a weak 3G signal area I suggest using our CA819 amplifier/antenna kit and the appropriate adapter cable to improve your 3G signal . The better the 3G signal the better the router will perform for you.

Thank you, does the router have an automatic reconnect if the signal is interupted? And what speed does the router transfer data? thank you again you've been very helpful. J.P.

The router does reconnect automatically if disconnected . If you use with an amplifier/antenna package that will not even be an issue. Speeds are the same usually as the card inserted direct in a computer gets

There are many factors involved that effect speed that we have no control over have . These factors are
    1) How many T1 lines are run to the tower you are connected to
    2) how many other users are connected to that tower
    3) How are those other users using or abusing the available bandwidth
    4) Overall Network traffic with your carrier

We just like to be honest up front we are not miracle workers but we do sell the best equipment to help you achieve your goals

Thank you for being realistic. Better to know before hand what to expect. What is the distance the router sends to the other computer(s) on the network. I have a long ( 60' from where the router would be to the other computer i want to have connected) house and I want use the router to connect my two computers which are at opposite ends of the house with insulated walls in between the rooms. Will this interfere with the ability to have a good conection? I know this is simple but I'm so new to this that I have to ask. Is there another sourse of information on the router other than the review on MaxSignal? Thank you

Forgot to say I did check out the CA819 kit and it sounds great but to be honest I'm not sure I will need it or could afford it anyway.

WOW it would be great to win this I found this site since I am looking for information on some of the internet options through cell phone companies. I am using wildblue satellite and really dont like it I get fapped every month now. Also its slow as heck at times my dialup is faster. I could so use this when I get signed up for my plan since I have 2 computers, laptop and a PS3 that run on my network now.

That is a good question can a person run thier PS3 gaming system through this to add to their network. :loony:

I don't believe 60 feet is a realistic expectation . It might go that far . That must be a really be houe. You might need to purchase a range extender. I use a linksys range extender in my houseIt does have an cat 5 connection you could run a cable to the second computer as well.
