AWESOME!! :D This is a really good router for all it can do. Hope I don't ask to many questions, but here it goes. How many LAN and WAN users does it support? Also, I saw it has WPA, but what about WPA2? Does it have a status page, like the firmware DD-WRT does? What kind of connectors do the rubber ducks use? Can it be setup to do a wireless bridge link? I'd use it at home when my internet connection goes down, which happens every couple of weeks. Also, if it can do the wireless bridge, I'd set it up so I can take out the cable between the front and back of my house. Also, I would take it with me when my family and I go on the road or out to our summer home. Its got great cell reception out there surprisingly.

This is just what my wife's sister could use. Her cabin, under construction, could have dialup or satellite Internet--or this. Its site is in good EDGE coverage from AT&T Mobility, too far from Memphis for 3G.

I guess we have to provide our own USB or PCMCIA card adapter? Would a Huawei E172 or Novatel MC950D USB HSPA dongle work with it?

Like most routers, the Cyfre 3G Router supports up to 254 users.
The router supports WPA2 Personal and WPA2 Enterprise.
The main page of the router is the status page.
The rubber ducksk are FME connectors.
The router does not have the ability to act as a wireless bridge. You will need an actual bridge for this portion of your problem.
The beauty of the device is that it can be taken anywhere and you can virtually use any card to get mobile access for many machines at once!

If you have any more questions or comments, please do not hesistate to ask!

    Thanks,
    Ryan

One correction on Ryan's answer. The antenna connection for the WIFI antenna is SMA not FME. There are plenty of SMA connecter WIFI antennas out there if you wish to add a more powerful antenna .

Thanks a lot to both Maximum Signal-Ryan and Maxium Signal, I thought it would support a little less because of the 3G, but this is great. I know I won't have that many people, just an interesting fact to know, you know? lol, you answered all my questions thanks! :D This truly is an awesome device.

Would love to win this! I have been reading message boards lately trying to learn about antennas, boosters, and wireless routers. From what I've read this would be a great router to own.

Indeed a great contest! This would be great to take when my girlfriend and I travel together with our laptops as it would enable us to share a USB modem.

Well perhaps it's time for you to get posting if you want a chance at a free 3G router. The contest rules indicate that you need at least 10 on topic posts to be eligible. :)

Sign me up for the contest. I would find a way to use this. I might even have to get a laptop card or USB modem for my laptop down the road if I win this contest. This router sounds like you are covered by all of the various wireless bands.

I'm sure there are a lot more people who want it, but just don't know what they would do with such an awesome router. I just recently got an air card from AT&T even though I'm still on Edge here in my town :(

maximumsignal -- Is this the same router you sell in your ultimate hotspot package? Also, in several of your posts to different people I've seen you recommend purchasing from alltel when you sell the same thing. Why?

Same one we sell in Ultimate hotspot package . Due to political correctness I am not supposed to chase Alltel Customers as Alltel sells Cyfre products. I have no problem selling to them .

Maximum signal --- I've been reading several message boards trying to gather information that is similar to my situation. I've been very impressed with your willingness to help people without trying to push your products. I know that you have recommended the cradle point when people have ask about it and the cyfre when people have inquired about it. What are the advantages or disadvantages of each? Would you recommend one over the other?

I forgot to mention how I would use the router. I have a desk top in my kitchen and my husband's computer is in his home office. We don't have any kind of router. I would like to get a small laptop that I can use anywhere in the house and not be confined to my desktop.

The Cradlepoint MBR1000 is a great product ( best dealer is Wireless 'N Wifi, Sprint Upgrade Specialists). It has more LAN ports than the Cyfre and has bigger broadcast area as it is 802.11n . The Cyfre is also a great product it is 802.11G .That is more than enough for the average size house . It handles just as many devices wirelessly as the Cradlepoint. The Cyfre also has everyting you need to use with any EVDO or HSDPA device ( USB , Express Card or PCMCIA card) right out of the box , The Cradlepoints do not The Cyfre does have Software on it written by techs at Alltel so it works better on the Alltel Network. The Cyfre unit also has a removable antenna so you can purchase a larger more powerful antenna for WiFi on it . The Cradlepoint MBR1000 antennas are not removable or interchangeable.
I enjoy trying to help people without jamming my product down their throat . I will be the first one to tell you that Cyfre makes the best products in Cellular amplification but if I do not have exactly the right product for your application I will try and steer you in the right direction to get what you need.

Thank you Maximum Signal for the above information. I'm pretty sure I need the ultimate hotspot package with the cryfe router. I was just curious about the comparison to the cradlepoint. If you could steer me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I live in a rural area in Southwest Georgia and I have a dial up connection (no dsl in this area). I have recently purchased the huawei EC228 from alltel. I am connected by it now, but I have a weak signal(1-2 bars). I get disconnected often. I don't have a laptop, so I can't move it to different rooms in the house to see if the signal is stronger. The RSSI at best is -94 and at worst (when still connected) at around -107.It switches back and forth from evdo to 1x. The Alltel tower is about 2 miles away (through the woods) Also, we have a beach house where the cell phone signal is 0-1 bars inside and 1-2 bars outside on the deck (if you stand just right). I would like to be able to take a laptop and my ultimate hot spot (if this is what I need) to the beach house and have internet access. Would the ultimate hotspot work for me, or do I need to piece together a router, antenna, etc. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

On the page where you buy the package there is a drop down menu to choose kit number that reflects what EVDO device you are using. That way we can include the correct antenna adapter cable.

I looked at your site again, and I understand how to order the correct kit to go with the package. Thanks. Will the directions for the firmware update for Alltel customers be easy to understand and follow?
