I'm in the market for a smartphone, but I really don't like any of the ones Alltel currently has. I could deal with the HTC PPC, but I'd really rather not 'settle' and still pay at least $250...ya know?

Does anyone know of any other smartphones that are Alltel compatible, and just not up for sale through Alltel right now?

I do not know of any that are coming out. But I can tell you to not get the Moto Q. It loses battery power extremely fast. If it dies it will erase all of your information that you have saved on the phone. The one you can deal with is a good one. A friend has that one. The blackberry is also a good choice.

If you like the Q, and I do, but I prefer a smartphone with a touch screen, the extended battery is a must. That's the only thing about the Q.

What exactly are you looking for in a smartphone? I mean, there are several CDMA smartphones out there right now that Alltel is not offering but it's sort of pointless to use them on Alltel's network because they're programmed for Verizon, Sprint, etc. and the data won't work with Alltel.

Basically you'd have a big, chunky phone that has a ton of functionality you can't use.

The HTC PPC6800 is pretty awesome, IMHO. I had the good fortune to spend a few minutes with it yesterday and it's light, sleek and WM6 is way better than WM5. I'd get one if I had the cash for it.

Just wanted to note, I have a Moto Q and my battery is fine. I do about an hour of web browsing a day, have my mail pulled every 15 minutes and am texting quite a bit, plus I go through about 2-3 hours of talk time every day. I charge the phone every night, but it will still last me 2 days with moderate-heavy use if I forget to charge it. And even if I forget and let the battery die, I've never lost any information...
