Hi! I am planning on getting a GSM phone for my Fiancee this Christmas and Iw as wondering you guys could recommend a good Nokia GSM phone which will be used on T-Mobile. She wants something like the size of the 8260 which she had when she was with AT&T. She's PRO Nokia all the way! hehehe

7210 would be nice but too pricey for me right now. I don't really know much on whats out today but your recommendations will be well appreciated. Thanks!

The 8290 is the same size as the 8260 but it has been discontinued. You might still find it used in Ebay. Other GSM phones of comparable size are the 6590 (offered by AT&T) and the 8390 offered by Cingular and AT&T. I think the only Nokia T-Mobile has is the 3390. If your fiancee is pro-Nokia you'll find more Nokia choices with AT&T. If you are in North Jersey you might want to consider Cingular since they carry the 8390 and 3395 and you'll still be using T-Mobile's network.

Well, I was thinking of getting unlocked phones anyway. 7210 looks pretty good but pricey

One thing that I do not like about Cingular is that I need to be with them for 2 years. 1 year is acceptable but 2 years?? Thats why we'll stick with T-Mobile and get unlocked phones.

With cingular you can get no contract at all if you don't mind paying more for the phone or if you bring your own. They offer different prices on phones depending on if you get a 2 year, 1 year, or "0 year" contract. Plus once your contract expires, you don't have to sign a new one (even if you change your plan) unless you get a new phone at a discounted price.

With T-Mobile you have to get a 1-year contract even if you don't buy a phone from them.
