Compact Clamshell Coming to Alltel Friday, 11:04 AM source: FCC The FCC today approved a new entry-level Pantech phone for Alltel. The PN-218 is a restyled version of the CDM180 currently sold on Verizon. The PN218 uses the same small clamshell form and has the same features - dual color displays, both horizontal rather than vertical, a VGA camera with flash, and speakerphone. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=672
I don't think this has been posted before so I went ahead and did it. Found this article on phonescoop. The link directs you to the Verizon version of the phone- honestly I don't know anybody that has it. In my opinion it's ugly and doesn't do much that other phones can't do and other phones look a little better.
It's short and ugly... but it has a big screen! Except that it's just a normal-sized screen turned on its side. Blecgh... I can't believe Alltel is getting this phone. The insanity of mobile TV went to their head and they thought this was a good idea.
I wish Alltel had read our comments in this thread when Verizon released this phone. Maybe then they could save themselves the embarassment.
I agree. I know nobody with that phone on Verizon. It's simply huge and ugly. If I saw someone with it I'd seriously ask them what's wrong with them.
It looks distorted! You know Alltel still may not get that phone... I know for a fact that less than 50% of the projected rollout phones for 2005 actually made it to stores...
Thats true. most did not make it b/c it could not pass testing. however this year so far the ones that are on the expected roll out have made it.
we can usually expect phones to be about a month to 2 months later than the originally announced rollout date, though!
