Pretty interesting video of a church that has had several (ugly) cell antennas attached over the years, and the great benefits that they have provided. Take that, NIMBYS! Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com
That's a great story. It's nice to see the benefits that have come from this cooperation between the church and the carriers. Granted, the antennas are an eyesore, it's worth it considering how the community has benefited from this.
yeah, its crazy how much good has come out of this cell site. It just seems like so very little was done to hide the antennas. They are just wired up all over the steeple, with coax running down the side of the building, and huge AC units on the side of the church. Still, I wish every site could have this much effect on the community.
its hard to hide them without cutting into the steeple big time and putting a bunch of holes in it. i think they did the best they could while retaining the structure itself.
Cool story, I think the providers really need to see this. I bet the they could get a lot more towers approved if deals were made like this one that help out the community.
how much do you all think the carriers are paying to rent out a spot for the antennas? from what the video suggests, it's a good chunk of change.
Probably not that much monthly. I get the feeling the church was a highly sought after location and that the church required "incentives" to allow building.
