Thanks for the info. I ordered this phone yesterday & it should arrive early next week. Based on the reviews, I should be very happy with it.:)

Well, I have only had it for 3 days now, but I must say I do like it. I previously had the Samsung A670, which I have noticed is a bit smaller than the Lg, but it's a comfortable fit in the hand. This also has a speakerphone which I did not have, so I have tried to play around with that too.
Haven't used the music player yet, & the camera takes a nice clear picture. Quite a strong vibrate feature, which I use while at work.
In another thread it was brought up that you can't send a call directly to voicemail with the flip closed. That would be a nice feature, but certainly not a deal breaker.
I WOULD like to be able to hear the ringer in my headset when I have the hands free in use, but I guess that is not an option. So I just have to listen for the phone's external ringer.
I am still getting used to the new interface; it was a bit confusing at 1st, but I seem to have worked through the adjustment.
I have downloaded a few ringers & was tempted to pick up "mobile web", but haven't done so yet. I will decline the Vcast, as I don't think I would use it enough to justify the 15.00 monthly fee.
All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I picked it up for $49.99 on a 1 year commitment (corporate discount). :)

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the speakerphone with the flip closed? I can confirm that with a wired earpiece plugged in you can continue your call with the flip closed, but everytime I try this with the speakerphone on the call hangs up.

I'm a little upset because the "wireless guy" I bought the phone from was confident that I could use the speakerphone with the flip closed... and he OWNS this phone!

Additionally, what about using a wireless Bluetooth earpiece with the flip closed... is this possible?

I too have been unsuccessful with the "closed flip speakerphone". I did read some reviews about the 8300 on phonescoop.com & evidently, this is listed as one of the "cons" :( . Just as you mentioned, if you have the wired earpiece plugged in, it works like a charm.
Sorry, I do not have any experience with Bluetooth.

Will the LX8300 read .m4p type mp3's???? Much of my music on my computer are actual .m4p type files and I want to know how to transfer it to the phone in a way that the phone will recognize these files.

    Thanks in advance!!

I dont think it does, i havent tried it but it wont even play mp3's unless you go into the service menu to turn mp3 on. The phone uses windows media player's sync to transfer music and when mine gets to an mp3 format it automaticly starts converting it to the .wma format i dont know if it will work for .m4p because from what i know that is a format made by apple that copy protects.

Actually, I figured it out a couple of days ago and you're right. .m4p types cannot be converted, which means I can't download some of my favorite songs onto the microSD card. Oh well....

I've already turned on the mp3 player and the shortcut key on the Play button. I just need to get the card and we're ready to go! :D
